If the land you build on is comprised of beach sand it means that you are building on impermenant land that belongs to the ocean

The coast lines are always changing. It’s the hubris of man that thinks I can build here.

The same thing is happening in happisburgh england. Dozens of houses over the years have been swallowed by the sea…

If you control the sand you can protect the coast. We the dutch know how to to keep our coasts in place. You build a sand engine (look it up), with sand scooped from the sea bed on your coast and you let the waves and tides erode it which spreades it out along the coast protecting the pre-existing coast line. Let erosion work for you not against you.

This isn't about nature being nature. You build something, you want to protect it from nature. Build a sand engine and protect your coast and investments on it. Unless ofcourse the juice isn't worth the squeeze.

2000 years ago a humble carpenter and teacher told a story of how stupid it is to build a house on a beach. TWO THOUSAND YEARS AGO!

Higher seas? There’s plenty of photography that shows the seas have not risen by a foot in a century. Erosion can happen at any water level.

Same in Puerto Rico. People from the USA keep buying coastline properties but us locals know how much of the coastline has disappeared.

They're buying a ticking time bomb thinking they hit the jackpot.

Don't build on sand. Duh. Anyone whose taken a basic oceanography course could tell you this. The people who built here should have known the erosion was inevitable, but chose to do so anyway. Now they're whining because what everyone knows has come to pass.

This is just the earth doing earth things. Remember that Pangaea was real, and the moving of continents, wearing of mountains, and volcanic eruptions are still ongoing.

Miami had already lost land by 2002. Please make more of these videos. What 1 ft in sea level rise has done on the coast is impressive. We tend to underestimate the power of a few inches of moving water, let alone 2 ft or 1 meter.

The seas are not rising, it’s just erosion. Those houses are (were) at 4-6 feet above sea level, the ocean did not rise 4-6 feet since the 1980’s to reach that house, THE SAND UNDERNEATH JUST ERODED INTO THE OCEAN.

My best friend and her family were one of the people who lost their home to the sea. In this video, I think it was the house right on the beach. They still live on Nantucket, but now their inland.

My Mum's house on Captiva island, Florida was demolished by waves in about 1961, but it was already directly on the beach. She just didn't realise the danger.

When the sea comes for you there's no argument, you just have to move.
The sea cannot be fought successfully.
