Here we go! These are the soft and flex nibs available from Pilot's Custom Heritage 912 line of pens. They're the #10 size, and they're really fun to write with. I think one of these is my favorite of the whole set. Thanks for loaning these to me, Pilot!

Really enjoy my sfm for everyday writing

I love the Pilot Fine nibs and 'accidentally' ended up with a SFM because it was a cheaper option at the time.
Adding just a bit of pressure gives my writing a bit more character. Love it.

Oh this is perfect! I'm really interested in the 912 but I'm not a big fan of fine lines, which I know Japanese pens tend towards. I like western medium for just about all writing, but Pilot quality seems to be undeniable. That soft medium does look like a pretty hefty line.

I agree with one of the above comments - I like bouncy/springy nibs more than flexible nibs that give line variation. A lot of vintage pens are bouncy but not flexy. I feel like most modern pens are either rigid or go for the soft flex nib thing instead the bouncy cushioned experience if that makes sense. The Platinum Ptl5000a has a fantastic springy nib but unfortunately no longer available.

I like the line weight of that fine medium. I like when you can have a bit of oomph even when you're not pressing. That said, the FA nib looks great for sketching. My handwriting would be absolute garbage with it, I'm sure, but I could draw a great feathery bird with some good movement to it.

I love the idea of a flex nib and occasionally indulge in them, but my handwriting is less atrocious with a bouncy nib rather than a flexible one. Maybe someday I’ll have the patience and control for flexies. Thanks for these videos, Mike. It’s great to see these pens put through their paces.

I just got my first Pilot Custom Heritage 912 with the FA nib. Looking forward to that flex! Loved seeing the writing samples!

I own a Pilot Soft Fine nib. It is so smooth and provides the character I want in my standard writing. I have had the Falcon nib but to use it properly, it requires me to change my style of handwriting. I do not do calligraphy but the Soft Fine is perfect to make my handwriting distinctive.

The posting nib was for bookeeping. It was used to post entries in ledgers.

The FA nib is legitimately flexible. The FA’s feed is legitimately suck. The Fountain Pen Factory’s hard rubber 912 feeds are AMAZING. I have the three slit version, but I have no doubt the two slit version would work for almost everything. Great video!

I used to own an FA in my early pen days. I always had trouble with the tines staying aligned but it was probably user error. I would like to try one with a flexible nib factory feed sometime

The FA is definitely my favourite but I would also put theSoft medium nib a very close second.

Hey Mike,
I’ve read that these nibs are softer than the #15 on the 823, was wondering how these compare against a #5 on a custom 74/ ch 91 soft or otherwise
