Absolutely loved the segment on Eisenhower. Over the past few years my study of Ike and along with my visit to his Presidential Library and Museum in Abilene, KS and living close to his birthplace in Denison, TX has made him one of my favorite presidents. His leadership style and his policy of Progressive Conservatism enabled him to build America into the economic juggernaut during the 1950’s.

Fine show on Grant. I now more highly regard President U.S. Grant. He was ahead of his time and, unlike current and recent presidents, had a moral core.

Thanks for not focusing on the stuff that everyone learned in grade school! It’s great to hear something new about these public servants.

All of these three men were gifted and shaped by their youth
and family upbringing, and also were flawed like us all, but lived up to the adage that the " cream rises to the top ".

If a man didn't need a drink after the horrors of that Civil War, I may be inclined to believe he wasn't even there. US Grant was a great leader of Americans

Can confirm. I was taught he was a joke in school, and that is a tragedy. He was a great man that navigated trouble times, even when it was not to his personal liking. He was quintessentially American, and is probably only dwarfed by Teddy, Washington, Franklin, and Lincoln in establishing the way we view ourselves as a people.

Richard Dick Milhouse Nixon did leave his footprints in the sands of history. A great but tragic man.

1:15:24 - error - General Douglas MacArthur 26 January 1880 – 5 April 1964. Not 1874 - 1951!

At about 14:32 - I am fairly certain that there were no high tension power lines during Grant's battle at Fort Donaldson. 🤣

Ulyses S. Grant should be remembered as both: A great General and a great President. I wish we had Presidents in modern days capable of navigating such difficult times. Too much is pointed toward personal issues such as his drinking, and not at his accomplishments.

The surrender was not in the courthouse in Appomattox; the name of the town was Appomattox Court House, and the surrender took place in a private residence. If you are going to publish historical information, do your research.

Well Grant is on the $50 bill, that says something.

Southerners saw Lincoln as a boogeyman who will end slavery. Next chapter Lincoln ends slavery. Don't insinuate that wasn't one of his major planks

I grew very close to where Grant started his early life. Ive been to the Rankin house and Grant's early home and school

I actually think that Ulysses S. Grant was an excellent soldier
an even better general. He couldn't have been such a bad president if the nation was thinking about electing him for a 3rd time in the oval office . Despite his character defects and shortcomings he should never be forgotten in the pages of America n History...

As both a general and statesman, Grant deserves our praise and gratitude.
