When I saw your thumbnail, I girded my loins and got ready to come in here and defend Scarface to the pain. However, your points about the teach are well taken. I do still love the game though. The theme is so good and it's just so much fun to play that the pain of the teach is outweighed for me.

Thanks for this video ❤ We have Tanares on the shelf and definately going to play it within the next like 1-4 years (huge stack of campaign games on the shelf^^) and as far as Race to the Raft goes, I had the same feeling for it being a solo game when I played it back in Essen 2024

If I may be honest sir... I didn't mind any of the games you've mentioned besides Scarface 1920. Sure it might have a longer teach, but the experience is worth it. It is a more complex and deep than other area control you've mentioned (and you know I LOVE D.E.I)
So sometimes the teach is worth the game. It's not 'just' an area control game and it has so many ither elements to it, not to mention that everything about it is just dripping of theme! Which you have to be honest, not a common thing our days.

Scarface is a GREAT game! ...but yeah, there's soooo much to it that makes it difficult to table and teach.

Scarface 1920 is another TI4. Played with people that know how to play it, it is wonderful. And you get to play it that way twice a year. Teaching both is something you want to avoid, which in turn makes it harder to table.

Interesting. The Loop faded for me after I championed for most of a year. Where as Tessaract has continued to grow as I teach it to new players.

I have very similar feelings toward Dreadful Meadows; it’s a game that I like but don’t love. It’s staying in the collection though because I only table it in Spooky Season

I haven’t even listened to the part on Scarface 1920…….but this one…….has not faded for me. Granted I have only played it twice…..but I can’t wait to play it again. No other game makes you feel like a Bad Azz Mobster more than this game. The teach isn’t that bad…..because it’s not that complicated and lots of the mechanism are intuitive because they are thematic. It is quite a bit to go through, but I think the teach isn’t as bad as other games. I think the teach for Evenfall is more complicated than Scarface 1920.

I became the beneficiary of your copy of Tesseract (thanks again!). Do I enjoy it? Very much so. Do I like it better than The LOOP? No. But crisis management is my favorite genre, so I have no problem owning several of these types of games for variety’s sake.

dreadful meadows i have had enough after one game. right there i thought i wouldn't know hoe it would play differently the next game. but the one game was fine.
