Nintendo's biggest SIN is something they hope to correct with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Now with a second chance I think we can finally get the adventure in the sky we deserve!

i have this feeling that when once we've explored the sky enough we will be gifted a loftwing, that hopefully will be more fun to use than the skyward sword one

The more that I look at the trailers to this game, the more I think that the sky will have multiple layers. There are some scenes in the trailers that look just like BOTW (when on the ground). Other scenes, such as when Link rides the rock upwards or is on the stone bird, it appears that you can see the lower level sky islands. This appears to still be handled in the same way as the ground level. However, there seems to be a higher level than this. If you pay attention to the scene when Link pushes open the doors, runs outside, and then jumps off, you will see him falling through a layer of clouds before the ground layer is visible (in a very low quality sort of way). This makes me think that the game is probably loading up the ground layer at this time during this transition. If this is the case, the game may have the sky islands in various layers to help the Switch to be able to process it all.

To further prove this point, I would say that the islands look much more different and fleshed out in the higher level islands than they do when Link is in the sky closer to the ground level. When Link is on the ground level, the sky islands appear much more along the lines of Skyward Sword... without a whole lot of detail.. mostly smallish looking islands that don't have a whole lot in them. Also, if you look at the clouds while on the higher level they are much more detailed than they are when Link is closer to the ground level (when he is on the stone bird or on ground).

Also, I think that there is a very good chance that there is an even higher level than the level that has the inverted temple looking place. At 4:52 in the video, you will see link falling from an area that is much, much higher than anything else on the screen. WHERE is he falling from? While it could just be a higher sky island... It is also possible that he is falling from a different layer.

Why does everyone always say the Twilight Princess overworld is empty? I always thought it was one of the most jam-packed overworlds in the franchise. You got poes, unique enemy encounters, hidden grottos, caves, bugs, and simple item-based heart piece puzzles sprinkled all over that overworld. There's a bit of empty space but that's only so that you actually have to look for stuff and it frees up more space for travel on Epona. I'd say if you were to scale it up to Breath of The Wild size there'd be about an equal amount of free space.

I gotta say it. Skyward Sword has the best item usage in the entire series and it doesn't get credit as such. Items you got continued to be relevant throughout the game.

Oftentimes items can be one-off gimmicks that are useful in that dungeon and that dungeon alone. Think like the spinner from twilight princess, or the megaton hammer in OoT.

Skyward Sword, once you got an item you used that item for the rest of the game. And I appreciate that

I most excited by TOTK for the fact that when I get it on launch day, they're won't be an tutorials etc on YouTube. It will be new and fresh for all of us.

I know you've been making videos again for awhile, but it's still so nice to hear your outros again after not hearing them for so long. I look forward to seeing what else you have planned for the channel Matt!

I hope they'll make it so you use an upgraded version of that stone tablet thing (I know what it's called, but I know I'd screw up trying to spell it) from BoTW to call one of those rising rocks shown in the trailer to launch you into the sky. You'd have to collect resources to upgrade the tablet to launch you higher to get to new sky islands or glide to secluded or hidden areas.

okay. what i'm about to say is more like what i want in the game:
i feel like the bird-looking object (shown at 7:56) could be something in which you could "collect" almost like the Tears, like if you got 7 of them, you'd be granted a loftwing?
Again, more like what i want in the game. it'd be pretty cool if they did that.
but i really think it's just going to be a more efficient way of working your way around the sky. though if you could ACTUALLY ride on the dragons, that would be pretty cool. i feel as if link would probably only be able to ride one, though, seeing as one connects to him (in several different ways)
ah. it's just always so fun to watch the theory videos at Midnight :)

skyward sword was compact and full with things. It used it space, the game was just linear.

I wonder if they’ll have horses in tears of the kingdom, maybe even new coat colors. It would be nice sense I’m sure they will add plenty of new things to the ground.

As long as I have the glider and my buddy Kass to fly me around with some tunes, I would be happy.

Going to sky and back will get excruciating pretty soon

I was thinking that this would have been a good opportunity to bring back the hookshot. But the melt-through-rock power will probably make that opportunity obsolete.

even at its worst i love skyword, well hd version no motion controls, and honstly while the control scheme is a bit to get used to, once you master it way better then having to recalbrate 50+ times per 100% playthrough, so yes skyward sword is tedious at times, but the story and the lore it brings is totaly worth playing through at least once, but i agree BOTW was a huge step foward, it honesty felt like playing loz on the nes again, but in 3d, loz nes was an open world game albiet in 8 bit, and Tears of the Kingdom looks like it will be great. also the beging of the story started in the sky, so perhaps now that this is the farthest in the timelines, the answers toend the curse of demise might be found in the sky, but we shall see

There is one necessity that I require for games that feature motion controls to at least the extent that Wii Sports does: dexterity options. Skyward Sword doesn’t provide them. If the player is left handed, they are stuck with a break in the immersion if they don’t want to sacrifice their more fine tuned dexterity of their dominant hand (and thus their performance in the game). This gets worse with the Switch version of the game due to the Joy-cons not having an ambidextrous design that would allow comfortable use of the sword controls in the left hand like the Wii remote and nunchuck combo does.

This is even worse because Twilight Princess provided it through version differences between the Wii and GameCube years prior. And Ocarina of Time provided it once Master Quest is unlocked.
