Uniqlo is one of my absolute favorite stores for basics. Their quality is phenomenal. When I like something I literally buy it in every color.

Tried on the Uniqlo cardigan, and its very comfortable. BUT! It is so thin, it looks odd since it is very see-through. It does was very warm but the fact that it would be so difficult to style because of the transparency made me decide against it.

For those that dont know, polyamide= nylon and viscose= rayon. Pilling occurs most often when a synthetic fiber is blended with a "natural" fiber. Technically rayon is manmade, but its not synthetic since the raw material used to make it is wood. Its still a "cellulosic" fiber, meaning it comes from plants.

The Uniqlo is definitely better than the H&M and I have a few Uniqlo merino items I love. But you can also see how thin this Uniqlo sweater is - when you hold your fingers behind it you can clearly see your skin through for the fabric, so anything you wear underneath will show and/or look bumpy. I get cold easily so something this thin would be more of a summer piece for me (even in wool).

Although you have some good points, its really difficult to take this serious and without bias considering uniqlo took you on a brand trip. I really hate this new culture of brand trips and sponsored content (not saying this one is but its literally right after the brand trip vid)

I'm all about timeless pieces, but tbh none of my clothing has been destroyed/being unusable even the fast fashion ones. I'm genuinely curious how much you need to mistreat your clothes in order to last only 1-2 seasons

Uniqlos quality had gone down a lot over the years though. A lot of my clothes from there have lost its quality in like 6 months after purchasing.

I like Uniqlo sweaters, but their merino is relatively loosely spun and thus also prone to snags. It also tends to get eaten by moths within the first year unless you’re super vigilant. I patch my Uniqlo sweaters, and usually can squeeze 5-6 years out of them, but what I really want is for someone to manufacture wool cardigans in the quality J Crew did 15-20 years ago. Those things were so dense and well made I had sweaters last 10-15 years. Sadly not even J Crew makes them like that anymore. The closest I’ve found is Banana Republic so I normally wait for their Friends and Family sale.

I have a black H&M cardigan that I absolutely love and I’ve had it for years. I have to shave it every once in a while other than that it still looks really nice even after a lot of washes. The Uniqlo one looks so thin. You can even tell it’s very see-through.

Quick Reminder: Just because it says "100% wool" on the Tag does not mean that it is pure merino wool!
With 100% wool, it's not specified whether it is virgin wool, recycled wool or wool from dead animals. Normally it is a mixture.
Only 100% pure virgin wool (or 100% Merinowool/Kashmirwool, etc.) confirms that the clothing is made of new wool.
It's good to know the difference, because both fabrics have different qualities/properties.

I actually have the h&m one in the exact same color, and in like 6 other colors too as it is a item they keep updating with new colors 😂 I must say they aren't snagged, no pilling. It does shrink though! The collar does go smooth on my body! I get your criticism but it's really not that bad at all really 😋

I’ve had one of the H&M ones about 10 years. Prior to that I had another that lasted years. They’re actually ok for the price.

I understand what you mean, but I don't agree that the h&m would not last more than a season. I have a lot of clothes that I've been wearing for 12+ years. I think a lot of people don't know about the gentle cycle or laundry bags and line drying

The only expensive cardigan I ever bought started falling apart after 3 months… most of my cheaper ones I wear for years… sometimes it’s just luck 🤷🏻‍♀️

There’s some things I’ve really liked from Uniqlo and some things I really haven’t. I want to trust your content but I wish you’d be more transparent about your sponsorship with their brand. I feel like you aren’t able to be honest anymore about the products they make that aren’t up to par.

I have a couple of H&M sweaters that lasted me for years. I depill them occasionally, something that you have to do with sweaters regardless of the brand.

The uniqlo one is thin and see-through. I don't care that it's merino wool, it's NOT gonna look good. How can you ignore that?

I've never been to Uniqlo in North America/Europe, but I used to buy most of my clothes at Uniqlo, GU (Uniqlo's sister company), and H&M when I lived in Japan. Tbh I found all three to be at relatively similar price and quality levels, though granted, I didn't pay as close attention to quality then as I do now. Pieces from all 3 stores have lasted me years and all 3 mainly sold synthetic fabrics (checked my closet recently to confirm). I have a Uniqlo 100% wool sweater and ngl, it's pretty itchy

The uniqlo cardigan is pretty transparent though, not sure how you would style it. Also taking your sweaters to a proper drycleaners can increase longevity because we brush and steam them every time
