That may have been the sweetest and nicest monologue that SNL has done since the 80's. Lovely.

this monologue felt so comforting for some reason, he's got such a nice speaking voice and the mandolin was really pretty

Love this - they have such great chemistry, adore how Colin hides his face when he gives Brendan the mandolin.

What an absolute legend Gleeson is, wouldn't have thought of him as a host of SNL but this was fantastic and I can't wait to see the rest of his episode. SLÁINTE 🇮🇪

What a great opening monologue. Probably the one and only time Barney McKenna will ever be mentioned on SNL. but as a Irish trad player myself. I’ll take it. I’ve been a fan of Brendan for a very long time. He’s also a very fine Irish fiddle player. And Colin was great in this bit too

Love that Colin handed him the mandolin at the beginning but no one noticed🤣

Absolutely adore this man. A real treasure from Ireland 🇮🇪 and loved all over. Timeless talent. Sad that the 40°C in the shade joke went over the heads of the audience. Don't forget. He was also in 28 Days Later... Great scary movie!

That tuning bit had incredible timing. Comedy is scary to dramatic but he killed it. Gangs of New York is practically Shakespearean. Dude was the heart of that story. Hard to dislike anything he does after that. What a badass sweetheart. Truly special actor. He's amazing.

When Grandad said, “you never know who you might meet in your dreams” … I said out loud to my cat.

In Bruges has got to be one of my top 10 favorite films of all time. It's a masterpiece. It's what got me into Martin McDonough's work.
