It's indeed important to create the 'Run Configurations' and browse for the executable; I guess it's something peculiar to Eclipse, since I never got such issues when using QT (or open source QT); there it works (builds and runs) out-of-the-box... Just something to think about and maybe because Eclipse isn't a C++ IDE out-of-the-box...
BTW, I encountered the same problem as in this video using OpenSuSE, so not distro related...
