Comet C/2017 K2 (PanSTARRS) 3.5 hour time lapse 2022-07-06

A 3.5 hour time lapse of comet C/2017 K2 (PanSTARRS). Each frame is 2 minutes, played back at 24FPS making a ~2880X speed time lapse . It was captured between 10:27PM -2:01AM (EST) under Bortle ~5 skies.

This was captured with with an ASI294MC-Pro + 8" F4 Newtonian + Coma Corrector on an OnStep'ed Super Polaris GEM.

I used SharpCap to live stack 8s sub-exposures with Dark and Flat frame calibration. The stack was automatically reset and saved every 2 minutes. I used Deep Sky Stacker to register the frames (wobbly mount). Rawtherapee to crop and stretch. Blender to animate. I also included a time lapse from my E-finder (IMX290 +5mm CS lens) to show the clouds.
