God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
and Wisdom to know the difference.

I have been tormented by the death of my Mother at the age of 12, which lead to 24 years of chronic depression. Early September of this year, I took a notebook and recounted every single detail of those days (even the most minute and seemingly irrelevant one). From the moment we learned, to the funeral. Years of therapy and antidepressants for nothing. All it took was honesty before myself and courage to face the demons. I am cured and happy.

This is ACTUALLY how I got through my trauma, I faced it head on, analyzed what happened, in my heart I was able to let go of that pain and forgive that person

He's so fun to watch. "Bring it to mind." "Oh but I'm too scared." "No bring it to mind." 😂😂

A memory in your head is one thing, confronting your fears and reality should be taken with updated knowledge.

I cannot tell you how much you have helped me. The dinner table is a horrible memory for me.. I will do my best to confront it instead of avoiding it. Thank you.

Going through a break up ive started to do this. When one of those good memories that i miss so much comes up and makes me feel terrible, instead of pushing it down i go and grab it and accept it as a part of me that is over. It was a good thing in the moment and now it is done, just like every other memory. Idk this has helped me a lot. Glad to see so many others helped the same way.

I'm ready to confront many people at this point. ✌️💜🌟 not in an aggressive manner but a TRUTHFUL one!

This is excellent advice!! Then you are in way more control over the situation… and I think it would be easier to breathe through it remind yourself you have already forgiven them and journal and discern what is really still concerning about it all …Thank you Dr. Peterson . I’m praying every single person is fully recovered and healed from all trauma 🙏🌱🌳⛵️

I love the way you put that anatomy. It really made sense. It felt like I was just picturing myself doing exactly what you were saying to hop out on the memory, grab it by the throat and confront it.

as you said befor DR Jordan about anxiety that related to past trama the solution of you can fix the present and engage in the experience again and do the right thing and if you are not able of doing that you can recall it and fix it is form of self forgiveness and others I guess you was right thank you

And this is where current standards of care like to keep their patients, proof that the entire Mental Health community is at least aiding in the perpetuating of one's trauma to profit from repeated and failed attempts to find one's balance. It is heartbreaking.
