If Lisa would have been faithful, she would have never dumped me and left me in shock over the end of our 10-month relationship, she would never have done it over the phone, she never would have done it when I was sick, she would never have told me she had never thought of us as more than just friends, and she never would have had to confess that she had been sleeping with a married guy while she and I were still together. If she would have been faithful, she would have saved me a lot of pain, heartache and deviation.

But only at the time.

But if she would have been faithful, she wouldn't have set me free to take the first steps into a journey surrounded by a long series of seemingly random events which put Kathy and me together. More than three decades later later, Kathy and I celebrate 28 years of marriage. We've gotten to see our four kids' births', their first words, first steps, first days of school, birthdays, ballgames, concerts, graduations and countless other moments big and small. We've shared so much together -- the glorious, the mundane, and the tragic -- all the while sharing a love only heard about from old story books.

Kathy and I realize every day that we love each other more than the day before, that each of us continues to grow closer than ever to our true love and our true soul mate.
