This is a game changer, Mead. I have an inexpensive Craftsman 10 inch compound sliding miter saw that I purchased when I could not afford anything else. It cut 90 degrees right out of the box, but the 45 detent is hopelessly off. This tip is going to add a dimension to my woodworking that I have longed for. Thanks, my friend.

Perfect tip! I wish I had found it 2 hours earlier before I cut 6 x 45deg(?) stretchers for shelf brackets. I can afford to take a bit more off now at the right angle thanks to your tip. Excellent!

Very helpful. A simple elegant approach. I'm afraid to go home and see what the hell I've been cutting. But the next cut I make will be much improved.

Thanks so much! Since my husband passed away I have had to do a lot of new things, but I never would have figured out how to adjust the saw to cut 45 degrees.

Dude I gotta say thanks for the simple but very effective way to set the 45, without the spring lock and using the speed square.. I'm embarrassed that I never figured that out. I've been readjusting the lock ring by minute amounts for ever. My 45's are perfect which I must have.. Thanks again, I love simple solutions...

Wish I knew this weeks ago, bought my radial arm saw for a big project, and never could seem to get my 45° or 22° angles correct. This is nice to know. I will use it on the remainder of this project, and for any of my projects yet to come!
