Most woodworkers have never seen this unique joinery system? This is a very strong and beautiful way to join wood together. If you don't have the time or skill to use dovetail joinery, this is an excellent alternative.

I've been using Miller dowels for about 8 years now. I absolutely love the micro dowel for doing repairs to interior door hinge screw holes

I read the FAQs that you posted and I believe this is truly a quality product. I love using dowels in outdoor furniture over screws. I'll be giving these a try. Thank you for your time and energy. Hope you have a blessed weekend.

Good on you for showcasing something so accessible. I think there are plenty of beginning woodworkers that will appreciate the upgrade in aesthetics these provide, and without the need to go out and drop several hundred dollars on a dowelling jig and decent bar clamps. Or if nothing else, a lot of spouses will appreciate these come the next credit card statement ;)

i love these dowels. Very easy to setup and install and extremely sturdy joints. Thanks for spreading the word.

Your error at 5:47 could have resulted in busting out of the side wall with a normal drill bit. These have more forgiveness for being crooked. Because of the taper, the radius of the bit gets farther away from the wall the deeper it goes.

I've had the large bit and dowels for a VERY long time and found them very good. Unfortunately, I don't think to use them very often. I normally just use regular 3/8" dowels (I have many). I need to buy the smaller Miller bit and dowels in various species. I think that would be helpful and convenient.

Been using for years! GREAT for repairing the bull nose part of a stair!

Why is this better than a straight dowel? I've seen these before, but never understood what the advantage is.

Never seen these! The birchwood and walnut looks great together! I’d like to know how much stronger these dowels actually are compared to regular dowels

I'm sure the price is higher than a regular dowels. I will stick to my regular dowels.

I saw a video recently, which suggested that these dowels were not good at adding strength, and as you can only see a standard dowel-like end, you might as well save your money and use standard dowels.
I quite like the tapered Japanese wood nails, although they are harder to find (I'm in the UK, and the nearest supplier is in Germany). No glue needed, and you can adjust the dowel depth by altering how deeply you drill.

I love Taylor Toolworks. I can absolutely vouch for them and encourage everyone to try their products. I first learned about them from Stumpy Nubs and I have had nothing but good things to say about them since starting to use their products two years ago.

So what is the advantage over regular dowels? Regular dowels are beginner friendly, more affordable, and look the same.

Thanks, but I’ll stick with dowels and achieve the same result.

I like the look of these. May have to order a set next time I'm doing something with dowels.
Looks like they would have extra strength and hold very well.

Do they really make an improvement over a standard dowel? I usually make my own dowels so I have access to the various colors.

The problem with these is that, due to the stepped bit, you can't pre-drill the holes prior to assembly. So then you have the drill the holes after the piece is assembled, meaning you have to use a hand drill if you're not lucky enough to own a large enough drill press to hold your assembled piece. With a hand drill you can easily blow a hole out the side of your work.
