Man Steve’s son is almost a spitting image of him. And you can see how much of the knowledge has transferred and it’s so badass knowing your legacy of engine building is going to live on.

Back when I used to build street motors, it was fairly common for us to get high rpm dips in power and torque like that.

The reason for the dip was we were using intake manifolds or exhaust headers that were tuned for peak power in the ~4500 to 5000 rpm range, but we were revving the motor into the 6800+ rpm range.

These manifold had a tuned flow resonance in the 4500 range, that helped to push or pull the air in/from the cylinders. At ~6800 they would enter a higher order resonance that impeded the flow, reducing the power and torque.

Please!!! "Hot tip", buy some muriatic acid, (Home Depot, etc.) Soak cadmium or zinc plated nuts, bolts, etc, "out side", in glass or a paper coffee cup. Pour acid back into container for reuse. In 30 seconds plating is gone. Rinse with h20, & dry. Now striped and ready to weld. Plus those vapors are DEADLY !!! Yah I know everyone is an expert, but I have been there and done that. Good luck, racer to racer, and thx for your content. Ty

Looking at the video versus the graph, the belt slap seem to be why boost is getting lower on that spot. Belt seems to find an harmonic at that rpm. An idler on the long side would definitively help tame those harmonics down.

Most of the Australian burnout cars only use one intake hole on the top hat the other two are dumbie holes I believe killer bee is that way too. Hope this helps

Another great video! It was great working with you guys again! Thank you for your support 💪

I would have looked into the HAT being used on the engien as the culprit...air does funny things and it is VERY possible that the old school hat has a resonance at that RPM thats creating a chokepoint for the air and causing a dip.... stranger thing have happened.

Pretty cool to see that pulley bouncing around that fast👻✅🙌🤑

Maybe a balancer/dampener is in order?I always used dampener with my blower pulleys and never had any problems.

If you are trying to limit the throttle, you can block off two of the blades (aussie guys do it internally) and get your travel back.

We can never get enough of Dewey, Steve. He's such a character and brings a smile to the end of even the toughest of days. The tech content along with the wagon at the track doing 6 second passes are off the charts great but Dewey just brings a special level of warmth to the videos. Cheers!

Harmonics on the belt is insane!! Those bolts had no chance

A Dewey being a menace compilation video would be a winner

From what I have seen of professional burnout cars, they run methanol to control temperatures and seem to run about 3500rpm so it’s not over straining the engine it’s all about wheel speed, so change you final drive to suite your needs

Love the video. I would like to see more of your new dyno install, maybe more in-depth account of the YourDyno experience. your transparency with your dyno testing and engine manufacturing is what compels me to watch each of your videos. Thanks for being real!.

the burnout cars here in Australia all seem to have 1200-1400 HP combo's them, mostly blown V8"son methanol for the cooling and all detuned a little bit for longevity

Kyle is definitely from his Dad's loins (Smokey and the Bandit reference)...his looks, mannerisms...and the evolution of his thought processes are ongoing...we are in good hands.
