'I feel sorry for her': Berejiklian sympathises with McKay over pressure to resign

New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian has expressed her sympathy for Opposition Leader Jodi McKay who is facing increasing pressure to step down from her position.

“Well, I actually feel sorry for her,” Ms Berejiklian told the media.

“NSW is a tough political business.”

The Berejiklian government received a vote of confidence at the weekend following a resounding win by Nationals candidate David Layzell in the Upper Hunter by-election.

Commenting on the result today, the premier said she was “deeply grateful to the community for supporting the NSW government”.

“And I can certainly say that I, for my part, will work my guts out and my government will work our guts out to keep our community safe and strong.”
