If I do a descaling cycle, does it replace a cleaning cycle?

mine loops. :(. keeps wanting me to follow these steps even after it has completed. now I'm stuck where I'm never able to do a standard cleaning. I guess I got my 5+ years out of this expensive coffee maker, so I should be happy it worked this long. :(
