2:32 the june Direct is final deadline where we could see the game, if Metroid Prime 4 is no no showing on the june Direct, it means MP4 is a cross-gen game

Hey Rob, thank you for the years of great content, I've been a lurker for the most part but, it's been so long of a journey and I just wanted to thank you. Its sad to see you leaving youtube but life is precious and will be even more so once metroid prime 4 is released and everyone is enjoying what could be (in my opinion) the greatest game ever created.

About the reveal of metroid prime 4, I think before showing the trailer it should say when the trailer starts in the details (normally shown at the end of trailers) that it will be for switch and switch 2. With furukawa mentioning the next system being a switch successor, they wouldnt be losing anything by doing that. If anything I would get people excited for the reveal of the next system because the footage shown will be running switch 2 metroid prime 4 footage. Being already announced first for the switch it would make sense to me to have the trailer shown in the upcoming direct.

Whether it's revealed in June or not, we're definitely coming to the end of the long, era of MP4 speculation. Quite a ride it's been these last seven years. Hot take: If Metroid Prime 4 is a Switch 2 launch title or early in the Switch 2’s life, exclusively, it will financially fail. They would be alienating the market that they originally advertised it to, and although many Nintendo fans would buy a new console, many others will hold back for a few years. Times are tough nowadays, and if customers and families are going to spend the money on a new console, they’ll probably put the rest of their spending towards a more recognizable game like Mario etc. Also, Nintendo can’t market Metroid to save their lives.
Cross-gen, yes. But Switch 2 exclusive will cost them in the end and they’ll lose a huge, already-established market.

Great to see you back, Rob! I would agree with you on the ideal release for the game had it not been announced so long ago. After 7 years I’m honestly tired of waiting and given the choice would not be willing to wait another year for a Switch 2 release. Impatient? Maybe, but I want to start looking towards things other than MP4 in the next generation.

I completely agree! It feels like a win-win scenario for us Metroid fans at the moment. If it shows up in the Direct, we'll finally see the game, and probably get a release date or window. If it doesn't, it almost certainly means that they will promote it alongside Switch 2, and therefore we'll be able to play the best possible version of it on next generation hardware. We're in such exciting times at the moment!

Successor after Nintendo Switch*, and Metroid Prime 4 is just going to be for the Switch.
There is no reason to change up physical formats, so they just going to do what they did with the 3DS cartridges and add a little plastic bit to them.

The only hybrid idea that they can make still is the DS-hybrid, after that they can only make handheld-only and home-console-only devices because that is what the idea machine can allow. Hybrid is a neat novelty, but there is basically nothing you can do with that idea for making games, but if you wanted to make cool brand new game ideas that no one has ever seen before they can only be done be either making a dedicated handheld or by making a dedicated home console.

Next device they can make cool games utilizing a second screen and the joy-con and have them interact with each other, cooler if they can make bracelet tech work out and work out properly... oops, I said too much ;-) ...

Metroid Prime 4 was being developed on the Switch this whole time, so the most it can have is split joy-con gameplay, motion controls, HD rumble, and possible IR motion camera features. And Metroid Prime Series is an art style based game, not a graphics based game, this is why it can look as good as it does and run extremely well is because Retro puts in more work properly making the assets to look good with low demanding models with a low polygon count... I mean, it is forbidden black magic wizardry game development and definitely not a work harder and smarter mentality...

I will absolutely buy the Switch 2 and I will absolutely buy MP4 for it if it is a Switch 2 release. Yet I can't get behind the idea of it being made exclusive for the Switch 2. That would be a betrayal of the people who bought a Switch with the expectation to be able to play MP4 at some point and that's not something I'd like to see Nintendo do.
I hope it's cross gen like BotW. I bought my Wii U largely because I wanted to play "Zelda U" at some point. I still bought it with a Switch on launch day but I appreciated that I was not "forced" to do so. And fortunately I still felt that I got good value with my Wii U, with TWWHD, TPHD, Yoshi's Woolly World, Super Mario Maker, DKC Tropical Freeze, etc.

So many unknowns. I too just want to see it though I am a little sad it has to be shown at the very end of switch when everyone is now looking towards switch 2. I really hope Nintendo doesn’t fumble it. Wait so many years it’s only normal to want to see this on next gen hardware but not seeing anything next month would be another blow too.
