3:40. Looser straps are much more dangerous to use. An overly tight strap protects you in two ways: a) your tarsal bones cant properly go into the strap. Thats a good thing as the ligaments can still do their work so if the board slips and you fall your ankle isnt immoblized. b) your foot cant slip through the footstrap if you have a fall.

Both of the above can lead to nasty injuries.
