Man looking at all these animes from the 80s especially when they're hand drawn compared to anime nowadays before it got mainstreamed, This makes me wish that somebody would have like a VHS video from a anime convention during 80s especially seeing cosplayers of their waifus at the time. I mean It's the closest thing we will get to a time machine lol

I unironically love kodomo anime (kids anime) and I also love shoujo, so this compilation scratches that itch for both! I can always count on you RetroCrush to unearth and showcase shows that might have infamy in Japan but are pretty unknown to the western world! Creamy Mami still gets pop-up cafes every now and then & other anime still reference the Truck-kun from Minky Momo!

Seeing this, I can see how Sailor Moon changed the paradigm of 'Magical Girls.'
While I can see lots of core elements that can be seen in Sailor Moon, these works completely different from what we know as 'Magical Girls.'
The magical girls from the 80s look like ordinary Magical girls with special powers. And not uniformed defenders of justice and champion of love who fights bad guys. These girls look like they solve everyday problems, not Youma problems.
