These recordings were made in the old museum! Visitors to the Gaviolizaal will find a warm welcome and a unique collection of organs and accordions. The Gaviolizaal is named after the inventor of the cardboard organ book Anselmo Gavioli.
Street organs are for socialising in particular, the dance organ made its heyday for musical entertainment in dance halls and at fairs, with the large number of pipes, registers and keys such an organ can play symphonies, operas and operettas and also popular dance music. The most spectacular organs in the collection are the two Gaudins and the Mortier historic dance organs from the 1920's, which were used in dance halls, so you can enjoy the magnificent sounds of the Gaudin and the Mortier dance organ's with their beautifully carved facades. Also to be heard is the 'Blue Drum' a "Köningsberg street organ, a Ruth-fairground organ and a small organ de "Onze Kleine".
Accordeon collection ~ The accordion is connected to big names to the Dutch light music soloists such as Johnny Meijer, Harry Magnusson and the trio, The Three Jacksons, all were virtuosos on their instrument's. The Hohner's, Scandalli's and Max-Meinel's give a nice picture of the development of the instrument and the different types. All the instruments are from an extensive private collection.... ©TomGavioli

This Concertorgan must have some amazing bass pipes. You can hear them throughout this recoding but especially in the middle of the recording.
Amazing!!

Wow Tom!  First of all, what a color full and impressive work of art in the color photo of this beautiful concert organ.  And such a variety of tunes in that 16 min
medley with warm and fun arrangements.  Just another example of your great
contributions to the world of fair organs.. Thanks!  Paul

20-01-2015    Je moet nu maar eens komen luisteren op zaterdag- of zondagmiddag.
Hij speelt weer geweldig na een grote beurt door Martin Conrads.

Designed to impress - and it certainly does. The amount of work put into that decoration is extraordinary. Oh to have been a 1920s fairground organ facade designer - you could let your wildest architectural fantasies rip! Sounds nice too.

I think the first tune is "Le reve passe" (hope I spelt it correctly!). I recognise some of the others, but the last 2 are "After the Ball is over" (which I'm sure everyone knows!) and "Parade of the Tin Soldiers" by Leon Jessel (a very good but insufficiently known composer)

I was in Keukenhoff several years ago and there was an organ playing Estudiana waltz. Do you know anything of this organ?

Tom,
What are the typical wind pressures on these concert and fairground organs?
Mark.

Tom,
I would like to know what the 7:12 - 9:52 tune/song is? It is such an inspiring tune!
I have listened to that section so often that if it was on one of my 78 rpm disc it would be worn out in spite of a new needle for each playing. Of course, no comparison to this recording and organ.
I wish I could one day listen to this Gaudin 114 key Concertorgan.
Mark.
