These are the top ways you can make money online with remote work, so you can travel or live abroad.

These days, everyone wants to know how to be a digital nomad. They want to know how to have the freedom to live anywhere and make money while traveling. In this video, we show you how to make working remotely a reality. Don’t even bother going onto job sites looking for remote work—it’s a total waste of time.

The things we’re going to show you in this video aren’t just ways to make passive income, nor are they all ways to earn an income online. However, they are all income ideas helping you to make money living abroad or make money while traveling the world.

When we moved to Mexico, we didn’t have a YouTube channel or any kind of remote job. We just had some ideas and a work ethic. We made our online business a reality and make a full-time income working remotely. We’re still working to increase our passive income. But we want to show some ways you can be a digital nomad and live in any country you want. You don’t necessarily have to give up your current career either. There are many ways to make money while traveling.

ABOUT US (MADDIE & JORDAN)
In January 2018, we sold everything we owned in the US (except our husky Laska & what fit in our tiny, tangerine Prius C3) to travel the world—starting with Mexico. Since then, we've been making travel videos about our life in Mexico and the new experiences we encounter while traveling the world. If you'd like to join our shenanigans, subscribe to our YouTube channel. You can also poke around our social media to find out what we’re up to each week.

Some people are asking what wrong with me... I'm just dealing with a skin issue that's affecting the area around my eyes. It's really red right now and the tightness of the skin was making it hard to smile when making this video. Other than that, it's nothing to worry about.

The two of you are so adorable that I've made viewing at least one of your videos every night before I go to bed. I'm a 66-year-old grandmother, so not truly your target market! Regardless of that I truly enjoy what you are doing. I grew up in southern CA, 88 miles from Tijuana, and always wanted to travel throughout Mexico. Now I'm in a wheelchair (due to an accident 8 years ago) so I'm living vicariously through you. It makes me happy to see that you have not waited for "retirement" like my generation thought was the best time to travel. See the world, meet new people, experience it all and have a great time doing it! NOW NOW NOW is truly all there is. I wish you great success with whatever you decide to do with your lives.

I'm a certified ESL teacher living in Mexico. I teach live classes here in Mexico and also online. Vipkid is one of the largest online English schools in China. There are many many more online schools you can find with new one's opening up all the time. The thing is yes, they have the potential to pay very well but as you guys stated they are very critical if you miss even one class. You have to like to work with kids and you will need to work in the very early morning because of the time difference. You also have to teach according to their methods. If that's not your thing then you need to look elsewhere. Teaching English online can be a very viable income. But there are many more avenues you can take then working for one of the Chinese schools.

Thank you. This video is quite useful. Actually, my husband is teaching English online to chinese kids here in Mexico and I agree with you guys, this way of earning money is by far the best (for native english speakers).

We're going to China in a very near future and while my husband is working, I need to do something else. The thing is that I'm Mexican and maybe that means I don't have the same options there.

Enjoy Las Vegas!

Thanks for the vipkid link. I'm checking it out tomorrow to see if I can use it myself in my retirement. I'm a former teacher so it should fit. Only downside is the early appointments. You guys are adorable and sweet together. Don't stress out too much. Have fun together and love each other. Enjoy each other, which seems like you do! And dude, goes without saying but you have a wonderful woman with you so pinch yourself and thank God for her! She's smart, quick, funny, fun, and beautiful!

I lived in Mexico for about 7 years and your channels makes me miss it every time. I wish you guys would explore the heart of La Huasteca, aka Huejutla De Reyes, Hidalgo! The food there is amazing and it brings me back to my childhood. ❤️

Great options. This is something I love about you guys - you're always providing value to your viewers.

As for me, I'm going to be teaching English at a brick and mortar school in Hanoi until I get a few private lesson clientele built up. There is a huge Korean expat population in Vietnam and they pay good coin for English lessons, and the fact that I'm a native English speaker who also speaks Korean adds to my marketability. I'll keep you posted of course. 140 days until departure. So excited.

Regarding point #1 please note that it’s illegal to work in a foreign country without a work visa. So to do massage therapy or hairdressing or dog training like you mentioned, if you did any of those in Mexico without a work visa you could be deported

Thank you for not doing the high school paper outline routine everyone does. THE FULL intro, body, conclusion. You got to the point and had some good ideas. Will use your link for the teaching gig.

Working for VIP Kid or any of the other online English schools (they are all basically the same, maybe they even are the same company) you might manage to work in your PJs from the waist down, but from the waist up you will need to wear what they want you to wear. You won't need to wear a suit or anything, but you will need to comply. The company that hired me wanted everyone to wear a shirt with a collar (like a polo or similar is good enough) and it had to be in the company color.

It will be difficult to do this while traveling because you have to be in front of a plain white or light-colored wall which you then need to decorate with relevant illustrations. Also, you need to have a very reliable and fast internet connection. If you are moving around I think you will have a hard time knowing if your next town will have a sufficient connection until you actually get there.

I went through a few auditions and some training and was hired with one of these. But the next day after completing everything and expecting to select my hours and get assigned my students, I was told, along with the others in my class that there was no need for us because so many students were taking time off over the holidays. They expected to start having a need for us again in a few months. So, I never actually went to work for them.

If the situation was right, I might work for one of them again, but several things described above would need to be adjusted, plus the biggest problem which you guys already covered in the video - the time difference. There are a couple companies looking for remote teachers for students in the Western hemisphere. That's great because it solves the time zone problem and you don't need to work during the night, but you need to be fluent or near-fluent in either Spanish or Portuguese to work for those companies.

The best place I have found online for getting remote job listings is Indeed, and it's free. Also, there are lots of teachers who have posted videos on YouTube about online teaching. They give you a good idea of what to expect and some good tips, too.

Fun fact: The entire enormous country of China has only one time-zone. There would probably be at least five time zones there normally. It ends up with kids getting off school at 3:30 p.m. by the clock, but by the sun it's actually 7:30 p.m. or maybe 12:30 p.m. Sounds really confusing to me.

Whoa!.... Are you telling me that i can earn money just by adding subtitles while i'm sitting on the toilet? I need that Job!.
As a Mexican, i'm looking for a big adventure too, and one of the issues is how to keep earning money while i'm traveling, i'm a musician, composer to be precise, but that kind of jobs are so scarce and underpaid in Mexico, but by doing some of the options you said i think it would be a great opportunity to finally plunge to adventure! (who knows? maybe one day i could caption your videos), Great video!

Once again, we love you guys! This video is great because we want to retire, and I was thinking about teaching English as a second language. 20+ years teaching English and master's+ degree. Sounds good to me. I knew about TEFL, but didn't know about Vipkid. Thanks!

I love you guys! Everyone considers me a rough type of guy.. I have been in the oil field for the past 12 years, and I (not in 4-5 years) would drink and fight, and be quick to anger, and now I’m addicted to a show called “ tangerine travels” lol total 180 I’m definitely softer than I once was, but I really enjoy you two, and Laska! I just would like it if u would come out with way more videos. I do know it’s a lot of work, but the last video I can find is over a week old. I’m just asking if you both can focus on making a goal to come out with one, and maybe two videos a week at least one, and like every other week or every 3 weeks put 2 out in a week.. God bless... can’t wait to see the wedding in Cancun lol hey at least it’ll be beautiful, and itllbget ur family’s to Mexico to spend time with you guys, and from what u guys say about advertising... maybe some fancy resort will give you guys a mad discount if you advertise for them.. hey hey there’s a few good ideas, and it’ll definitely help make for some good videos too lol..
hope to see you both soon!
Be safe, N keep doing what your doing!!!!

A friend of mine in Mexico does exactly your #1 suggestion. He teaches children in China for four hours a day and tried to talk me into doing it. It's not for me because of the hours. He begins teaching (our time) at 4 AM. That schedule will work for some people but if your brain is not at its best at such an hour (and this is definitely brain work) you may want to think twice. The time difference with China is a very big factor. The children will not wake up in the middle of the night their time to take the class.

Also, obviously, internet failure is not an acceptable excuse. You must have a strong internet connection at all times.

And you cannot make your own vacation schedule. Classes are off during Chinese vacation periods.

He did confirm that the pay is very good. I was tempted but had to say no.

Really inspired about this video. We are at the first steps of making videos for youtube and this whole thing begins all because I really love travel. Wanted to mention that I have a big desire to know whole the world, other cultures and to experience those thing that for a long time were a dream for me. Not to much money for exploring and still a beginner of youtube, but really a great desire to share with other people what I see. I hope one day to reach more viewers. Please feel free to know and support us. Love u all
