Treats on Laughter

Показать описание
Hester Aardse and Astrid Alben are the founders of the art collective called PARS. PARS brings together artists and scientists from around the world to share their vision on wide-ranging topics such as ice, elasticity, laughter, power and light...
There are two guidelines for the artists and scientists we work with:
The performance should be about the given topic
The performance should be in the language of their profession
'Treats on Laughter' at the Wellcome Collection, 19 July 2012
Treat yourself to an exciting and intriguing evening on laughter with artists and scientists.
We will be getting to grips with a dazzling array of laughter and exploring the unexpected ways it appears in art, the body and the mind.
'Treats on Laughter' will be a striking and stimulating way to make your imagination double up and get your curiosity rolling in the aisles.
The event will feature talks, performances and work by:
Sophie Scott, cognitive neuroscientist: Laughter in the Mirror
A L Kennedy, writer and stand-up comedian: For Better for Worse, starring Mark Nathan.
Mark Greenaway, pioneering chef: Dark Chocolate Espuma
Robin Dunbar, evolutionary psychologist: Why We Laugh
Harish Chavda, laughter yoga therapist: Let's Laugh!
Han Hoogerbrugge, artist and illustrator: Quatrosopus and Nuisance
Aernout Mik, artist: 3 laughing and 4 crying
Serge Vuille and Christian Kesten, composers: Noisy Interval
'Treats on Laughter' took place at the Wellcome Collection on Thursday 19 July 2012 and was curated and hosted by Hester Aardse and Astrid Alben from PARS and came about with the financial support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
PARS was founded by Astrid Alben and Hester Aardse and collects the thought notations of those artists and scientists who shape the way we perceive the world today. PARS does this through the publication series 'Findings on...' and the events series 'Treats on...' They are compiling an atlas of creative thinking.
