Rise to the Occasion - Lessons from the Bingham Canyon Manefay Slide is a book about the largest landslide in mining history. At 144 million tons falling nearly 2,000 feet, the Manefay slide was massive, nearly the size of 20 Dallas Cowboy stadiums being filled with rock and dropped from the top of a 120-story building – all in 90 seconds.

The Manefay destroyed huge mining equipment and damaged the enormous mine which is 2 1/2 miles wide and 3/4 of a mile deep. But as large and impressive as the landslide was, the most amazing fact is that no one was injured or killed, because the people at the mine knew it was coming.
