I just now found this on the surface in my algorithm . In my youth I read a lot of SF. Now I’m in Japan. It’s about 1:30 AM

"Liberal Democracy is the best we can attain."
That line takes the discussion from science fiction to horror.
Also, the only funny joke Russell Brand has ever told is that he is a socialist.

The idea of a shape of history feels related to the idea of grand narrative in modernity.

I LOVE Vlad Vexler's take on modern Russian and World politics. Subed to him.

I hope people who regularly watch/listen to your content will have the patience not to throw their hands up in horror when you criticise this or that ideology, Damien. I come here to absorb ideas that I haven't thought about or haven't been aware of, and greatly appreciate your discussion. Let's see how I feel after this next section about Israel/Palestine though... 😉

The "where would you rather live" argument is some really lazy argumentation to use.

Hold on a minute. I've been doing a series on Brian Aldiss' Millennia stories from an Hegelian perspective, in particular Hegel's philosophy of history. Oh well, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. 🙂 I jest. I only have 800 subscribers, of course you won't have seen it.

Marx was hegelian. Hell, slavoz zcizek (cant spell his name for my life) calls himself a marxist, but ive aeen him admit to be first and foremost an hegelian

Oh, Hegel is just SOO bloody turgid and verbose, as to be almost unreadable.
