Thanks so much for watching bros! Hopefully I helped out and didn't discourage any choices for race! I wanted to try and be unbiased towards EACH race rather than making it seem like any ONE race was an absolute "Must" pick for a class! As always, play how you want my dudes!

Trust me people, the way this game is created, pick the race for reactions. I expected sorc gyth to have some unique options and i’m not disappointed.

"We live our lives with enough constraints on them" -- Man, this is why your videos are the best. We have enough gamers telling other gamers how to game. I love how you offer advise and info but constantly remind that doing what feels organic and appealing to each is always a great way to go.

I feel like the urge to have "the best" build that breaks the game and makes it laughably easy is such a current-day-internet thing. The beauty of D&D is that there is no "the best." Sure, there are certain combinations that are classics (dwarf fighter, etc.), but the game very much invites you to not min-max. If you want to go full forest gnome wild-magic-barbarian, you are more than welcome to do so. Just think of your character as a fully fleshed-out individual with its own history and personality, not just a bunch of numbers, and you'll have a great time, I promise. ☺

Goddamn the title might be click bait but that forwardness in the first 10 seconds of the video? Respect. This is why I watch your stuff. Lol

No fluff, no bullshit made up to sound smart. Just straightforward answers. Top notch.

I made a drow ranger specifically because I like the idea of having 80ft of darkvision on an archer. Yep, I know they aren't the only ones with the superior darkvision but I thought it fit the concept best :)

Speak with Animals is a Ritual spell, which means you can cast it without using a spell slot. You just have to keep it prepared to keep the effect active. When you get it as a racial bonus, it's considered 'always prepared'. It's a bug that the tooltip doesn't mention Ritual on the character creation or level up screens.

Duergar are a lot of fun to play! Not only do you get the normal Dwarf traits, you also get increased Darkvision (like Drow), Advantage on saving throws against illusions, charmed and paralysed. On top of that you get 2 spells, the first at level three: Enlarge, and the second at level five: invisibility. Been really enjoying playing as Duergar Oath of Vengeance Paladin!

I can't tell you how appreciative I am for your style of video. there is not worse or a bigger waste of time than watch 2/3 of a video only to find out it doesn't give you the info you were looking for. Thank you so much.

Gith are not corrupted elves, they're a humanoid race a separate realm/crystal sphere from the one that Faerun/Toril exists on. Basically they're DnD aliens

Just wanna say thank you for up-fronting the base info of the video, it's a breath of fresh air.

You started the video with the best advice about race I've ever heard or given anyone playing D&D. There's always a benefit, no matter the combination.

As a person who grew up with 1st and 2nd addition the concept of race giving you armor proficiency is game changing

Gith are one of the top races, their ability to get proficiency with all skills for any attribute is huge, and medium armor + weapon proficiencies are amazing for classes that don't get those by default. Frankly they are probably the top race for casters. Also Halflings for the "lucky" ability which basically means they are 5% better at everything.

Should go deeper into the races as they all get extra stuff at higher levels. For instance: Whilst the Asmodeus Tiefling cantrip is underwhelming, at level 3 you get Hellish Rebuke as a race feature which is absolutely awesome for Sorcerers, Paladins, Wizards and any Spellcaster or spellcasting melee class. At level 5 they get the darkness spell they can use once per long rest. These are also things that should be considered.

One small thing I will add, Tieflings, Githyanki, and Half-Drow get more spells as they level, gaining a new spell at level three and another at level 5, each of which can be cast once per long rest. Drow and Deurgar also get Spells at levels 3 and 5, which also can be cast once per long rest each.

Side Note: I'm loving Civil Militia allowing my Half-Drow Draconic Sorcerer to wear a shield.
