This Is What Tattoos Do To Our IMMUNE SYSTEM

Got a thing for tattoos? Or just looking for a reason to hit the tattoo parlor this year? If yes is your answer to these questions, you'll be glad to know that the move is totally worth it! Why? Well, it's only because of science! According to research, getting multiple tattoos can strengthen your immune system and eventually increase your ability to fight off infections.

So what's the point? Well, you'll need to hit the tattoo parlor again and again for best results — it's all about getting more than one tattoo.

Look:
Researchers from the University of Alabama pointed out that getting multiple tattoos is very similar to working out. That said, your first session may weaken your body and leave you exhausted — this is just a way of your body trying to figure out why you injected a foreign body deep into your skin. Also, you can relate it to the sore muscles you get after hitting the gym for the first time.

But the good thing is, your muscles start to strengthen after hitting the gym every now and then. What's more, you won't feel sore and exhausted like you did the first time. After examining how this works for muscles, the team tried to figure out if this could happen for tattooing and the good news is, their research turned out to be a big success. They discovered that getting multiple tattoos could boost your immunological response and help you ward off disease and infection.

How did they verify this claim?
Well, the team from the University of Alabama recruited volunteers and headed out to a local tattoo shop to validate the research. The new study examined the number of tattoos as well as the length of each session for every participant. They then used this data to analyze blood samples to measure the participants' levels of immunoglobulin A — an antibody and cortisol.

For the most part, the team of researchers discovered that those who were getting their first tattoo saw a big drop in immunoglobulin A and this was as a result of rising cortisol levels. On the flip side, participants who had gotten multiple tattoos only saw a tiny decrease in immunoglobulin A levels, and according to the team, this change indicates that the body is strengthening its immunological response.

With all that has been said, you can agree with the validity of team's findings, but you should be aware that the study was conducted with just 24 men and 5 men. So what's the point? Well, that sample size is actually large enough to authenticate the study but way too small to allow for further research.

All in all, getting multiple tattoos could be a great way to boost your immune system, but we don't recommend hitting the tattoo shop every now and then. However, if you've been looking for another solid reason to get one, you can use this study as a motivation!

Tattoos fade away because your immune system is removing them... Laser treatments can break the ink into smaller particles which helps the cells to take away the ink... Also, having tattoos is the same as having open wounds, which means your immune system will be working extra hours until you die.

I'm married to a tattoo artist, and actually had to STOP getting tattooed as it has weakened my immunity. Even after the tattoo has healed your body never stops fighting it, as it's something that should not be there. The more you get, the more your body is constantly fighting them and weakening you. It's not something to happens to everyone, but those with already weak immune systems should be careful. I got 5 years within 2 years, and have gotten sicker in these 2 years than I can ever remember. I never have skin reactions and everything is done very hygienically, its just how your body reacts since it never truly heals from the inside. Something to think about. I love tattoos, but had to say goodbye.

I read once on a medical paper that, after you get a tattoo, your immune system will try to get rid of it as soon as the ink gets in the skin, and, if you look at your tattoo through a microscope everyday for, let's say... 5 years. Your tattoo will move/dance this, because of the macrophages eating ink particles and defecating them again, because the cannot phagocytize them. This process keeps your inmune system busy with the ink all the time, rendering you vulnerable to other diseases you do not get sick from too often.
And in the unfortunate situation when you get sick of something serious, it will be more difficult for your immune system to get rid of that disease. The more tattoos the more difficult for your immune system to get the job done when it faces virus or bacteria.

2:47 KEYWORD: COULD.
Tattoos COULD help enhance your immune system.
Survey size was 29 people.
We should all be asking why was the survey 1 short of 30?
30 people would have provided the bare essential minimum for the required validity of statistical tests!

Duration of monitoring/testing was not mentioned!
Facts:
The physical processes of tattooing alter the physical composition of your skin.
Tattooed skin remains tattooed for life unless you have the tattoo removed.
Removing tattoos causes scarring and degrades the health of skin.
Tattoo removals from hands, wrists, ankles and especially feet may pose health risks to individuals with even borderline circulation issues.

Get 20 minutes exercise per day, preferably outdoors. That's a much better way to enhance your overall health!

Funny that you don’t mention anything about the ‘Heavy Metals’ in the ink that go into the body.

I read that tattoos can increase your risk for dementia because ink will get into the lymph nodes.

No, sorry, this “study” was only 29 people from one tattoo shop in one specific area. And it has nothing to do with getting a tattoo. It has to do with having a stress response, which could happen with any stressful event, not specifically getting a tattoo.
