Mackie 24.8 TR-909 Kick Drum Wank (BoldBass, Pitch Hiker)

909 Hardcore Kick solo, nothing special, just trying out the new Mackie 24.8 and some reverb. Kick signal chain goes 909 out to old-ass DOD SR240 eq w/low-cut engaged, to the DBX 266XL compressor mainly for gain and noise gate (perhaps a very small amt. of compression), to the Mackie 24.8, using one direct out to daisy chain the kick to a second channel. I've found this chain to be quite good for driving the kick to sick distortion before I had the big Mackie, so I stuck with it, i just removed my small Mackie VLZ from the equation that was originally the main :drive" gain for my 909 kick, and instead went for one channel of direct out on the big Mack to utilize the boards lovely eq's to further sculpt the kick into beautiful speedcore ugliness.

This is my favourite technique for making crunchy kick sounds, if only I had one of these desks myself! Your definitely a lucky person, cheers for the upload :)
