Hey Lucy,

That is very much appreciated. I have been following and going through your videos and all of them are very interesting and informative. I am stopping to comment on this video as there is one thing that no one mentions. That is, you need to understand the transition ability of your job, in other words how hard or easy it is to switch careers given the current one that you are in.

To give you a quick back ground I was a Senior Cloud Support engineer in my previous companies (A top 10 company worldwide) and I am currently am a Cloud engineer in AWS. I have been exceeding and going above and beyond I have class A customer interactions I have built relationships with customers during my last job and since you worked in AWS you know that Cloud support engineering jobs are not just support.

When I try to apply for any SA job this is what I get "You do not have the right experience", and guess what I have been trying to go into an SA job for almost 4 years now. So it is really important to mention that some career titles make a difference regardless of what you actually on the job. I have numerous of my friends who landed SA roles just because their career titles previously was not support

Thank you and sorry for the long comment

The main issue im running into is, I have years of operations/banking experience but all of my AWS experience is self taught. The moment I tell recruiters this the conversation is over for the most part. It seems most companies do not want to take the "risk" so to speak on someone like me quite yet. I feel like once I get that 1st role, I wont have this issue. Shooting for a type of application/cloud support role still but the job market is iffy to say the least right now. I have 2 certs and considered getting another but I feel like continuing to network is a better ROI. Stacking certs with no working experience doesnt really work anymore. Wish I started this sooner lol

Thanks for this gem of a video Lucy. My mistake till now is that I'm not focused on a particular role which to target at an entry level. I guess choosing which role to target will make my path much clear and reduce time spent on unnecessary learning off the track

Thanks Lucy, I am a Technical Support Customer Service Associate, you've inspired me to start building within AWS. Even if it is just a personal project, this would be amazing as a career growth step. Being 6 years at AWS I did not know what I wanted to do/ which career path would best fit my skills. I have the Cloud Practitioner Cert, hoping to get SAA in 2023.

Hey Lucy, most of the jobs I'm researching about are requiring 3-5 years experience for even "entry-level" roles, I'm currently working as a project admin at a software company and would like to transfer into a career as a solutions architect. I'm wondering if companies will consider my personal projects and previous experience as a PA would be directly transferable to an SA role. Any feedback or insight would be really helpful for me!

Hi Lucy, thank you for your advice. Is there a specific time of the year when Amazon has openings for the Tech U program?

Thanks for your videos they're really informative! One question, do I need any coding knowledge for AWS? I see what JSON and YAML are useful for but they're pretty simple. Are other coding languages required as well? (I'm working on Solutions Architect Associate)
