not sure i agree with the interpretation of most analysts. 1. Check trade balance for china for last 10 years. always possitive. 2. last year 1 x 40 2500 usd. this year 12500. even if you send a ship with totally empty containers in china shipping lines will still make 7500 cash margin on the return trip. 3. empty containers are always a problem for shipping lines and they manage to logistically have no issue through the years. i dont remember for the last 21 years any shortage at all. 4. this is what they want us to believe. In my opinion they tested the water (the first to do so was Maersk), then they saw that demand elasticity is very low, which means most companies will trade despite the high cost and only in the long run they might find alternatives to china. So now all of them are making extraordinary profits. From shipping lines to agents to subagents to ports to workers (maybe not all workers).
