Super Paper Mario - Flipside Orchestral Waltz

Okay, so I have to admit that I'm not the biggest fan of Super Paper Mario. The first two Paper Mario games are some of my all-time favourites - but the third installment in the series left me a little disappointed. I don't like that it took such a major departure from its RPG roots - I felt that it ended up being a mediocre platformer with some poorly-implemented RPG elements, and the core mechanic of "flipping" felt a little weak. I was also disappointed that it strayed from the "paper" theme, instead opting for a strange, almost MS Paint-like aesthetic. The charming twists on classic Mario enemies were replaced with forgettable characters built out of floating geometric shapes. I do think it had a good story and definitely maintained the witty dialogue of its predecessor, so that certainly gives it a leg up over Sticker Star (but that's not saying much...)

Anyway, I'm not just here to complain! The game does have a nice soundtrack with more than a handful of memorable tunes. Just recently I listened to the theme of the hub world, Flipside, for the first time in many years - I was surprised at how nostalgic I felt, especially for a game that I consider to be somewhat of a disappointment. So, I was compelled to orchestrate it into a light orchestral waltz, something I surprisingly haven't seen done before for this song.

This was the first ever Super Mario game I'd play as a little kid, and to this day, I look back with fond memories of spending hours walking around Flipside for no particular reason other than to listen to the music. With that, I must say that this is a great recreation of a wonderful song!

I can feel those nostalgic vibes you mention, I believe it might have something to do with the flute (or whichever air instrument playing). I've always attributed air instruments to evoke some kind of nostalgic or accomplishment (similar to the end of an Odyssey type of adventure) feeling. Nice cover one dude

Super is the black sheep of the series

It's not as good as it's white sheep predecessors(64 and TTYD) but it's certainly leagues above the sheep corpses that came after it and I believe it should stand with 64 and TTYD(even if it's on a lower podium)

Very lovely cover of Flipside regardless

I love this, but I think it could have gone along a bit longer.

Nice remix, even if everything you said in the description is factually and irrefutably incorrect.
