Super Paper Mario - Flipside Orchestral Waltz

Показать описание
Okay, so I have to admit that I'm not the biggest fan of Super Paper Mario. The first two Paper Mario games are some of my all-time favourites - but the third installment in the series left me a little disappointed. I don't like that it took such a major departure from its RPG roots - I felt that it ended up being a mediocre platformer with some poorly-implemented RPG elements, and the core mechanic of "flipping" felt a little weak. I was also disappointed that it strayed from the "paper" theme, instead opting for a strange, almost MS Paint-like aesthetic. The charming twists on classic Mario enemies were replaced with forgettable characters built out of floating geometric shapes. I do think it had a good story and definitely maintained the witty dialogue of its predecessor, so that certainly gives it a leg up over Sticker Star (but that's not saying much...)
Anyway, I'm not just here to complain! The game does have a nice soundtrack with more than a handful of memorable tunes. Just recently I listened to the theme of the hub world, Flipside, for the first time in many years - I was surprised at how nostalgic I felt, especially for a game that I consider to be somewhat of a disappointment. So, I was compelled to orchestrate it into a light orchestral waltz, something I surprisingly haven't seen done before for this song.
