Cypriot-born Yiorgos Bellapaisiotis, world-renowned artist, fashion designer, composer and fine artist, will embark on an inventive journey in New York City, imparting all that has stimulated and inspired him in the City with his compatriots. With a glorious 25+ year career in NYC, Bellapaisiotis will present this vibrant City's finest art and cultural hotspots, through a series of televised road trips, which will transport his audience to the multi-faceted City that never sleeps.
"It gives me immense pride to be producing and presenting my 'Art & Culture from New York with Yiorgos' segment for CYBC's 'Όμορφη Μέρα Κάθε Μέρα'," he says, noting that he will aim to convey the innate impulse that New Yorkers have for culture, socio-economic and political issues. 'It's fascinating how New Yorkers explore these issues through creation, coupled with a genuine sensitivity for gender, equality and acceptance,' he adds.
Bellapaisiotis will be cruising NYC on foot and wheels, using his road bike, the classic yellow cabs, and of course the subway. 'Through this Road Trip Series, I will present NYC's glossy, cultural persona through my professional contacts such as CNN, FOX, BBC, the glamorous NY High Fashion and enthralling world of the Arts. Yet, I will also showcase the darker side of the City, which is oftentimes painful to encounter, as this is what makes this place so authentically real.'
Bellapaisiotis' career highlights include the Silver Thimble Award from Donna Karan New York. He has worked with the legendary Alexander McQueen, Koos Van Den Akker and Akira, seen his sculptures exhibited at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Victoria and Albert Museum, and produced number one hits for best-selling music artists thanks to Music Candy, the music production company which he owns with his partner Anthony James.

The Art & Culture from NYC segment will highlight the significant contribution of Greek and Cypriot culture to NYC, exploring areas such as Astoria, aka Little Greece and issues such as the influence of the church on second and third generation Greek-Americans, many of which are atheists.
Through these epic road trips, Cypriots living on the island and abroad will have exclusive access to archives, behind the scene snapshots and visual stimulations through the artistic eye of Yiorgos Bellapaisiotis. Bellapaisiotis explains that NYC's gems and imperfections are not hidden. They are all on the City's surface, and this has helped him establish a sincere trust in this City from the first time he visited it as a tourist in 1992, in awe of its transparency and unparalleled team spirit.
'Art & Culture from NYC with Yiorgos' will form a segment of CYBC's 'Όμορφη Μέρα Κάθε Μέρα' hosted by Elpida Iacovidou and will launch on Friday, October 8.
