I am an asian and despite the stereotype of asian parents being strict, mine were understanding and i love them to the moon and back.

I was able to share everything- my problems, my habits etc with them and they would listen and give advice because of this I had to keep no secrets from them, i am transparent to them. I once did something bad, and i liked it and i knew it was wrong so i seeked advice from papa and he told me, very calmly about what will happen if i continue doing it and safe to say, it's been years and i have never done it again.
Growing up my parents rarely faught (an experience i know is rare) and so i grew up with love and care of my family allowing me to pursue my interests, today i am one the class toppers, i have interest in finance, i love to cook, edit and write and overall i have a cheerful outgoing personality all thanks to them

I see these and realize I'm lucky to have the parents I do, I'm emotionally available to others around me and feel safe talking to my parents about anything. I've never been in many dangerous situations and if I was I got out of them quick.
