It's one of those rare performances by an artist that reaches out and grabs you by the soul.

This is absolutely beautiful... he really got a lotta people to tear up on this including me. When I first heard this it was on my car radio and the announcer warned his audience to pull over if we were driving and I'm glad I took his advice! Because it was a new song and he'd just heard it himself for the 1st time. He said afterwards that he didn't see it coming. My GF at the time was with me and both of us were balling our eyes out.

His mother was there for the show and he was so nervous he wound up giving a live performance that left Bobby owning this song forever.

Neither of these men ever had a voice or music lesson in their lives. This is pure, raw, unadulterated talent.

Another pretty girl falls a little bit in love with the best tenor of his generation singing one of the most iconic love songs in history. Great stuff

This song is from my generation. I am now 75. I could listen to this song all day long. I would consider it one of the best ever❤

I was 16 when I first heard this song. The man I eventually married played it for me. He passed listening to it 53 years later. Forever in my heart❤

Live. No autotune. Different calibre to singers today, you can’t even compare. True talent.

No autotune, no nothing. Just Bobby Hatfield, his voice, and a 1965 technology microphone.

As a tenor i thought this would be a piece of cake. The big moment is a swift switch to falsetto to a reasonable E5, and the hard parts are the G4 Mine sustains which are. high for a male but not incredibly impossibly high unless you add the B4 Glissando. But no. The amount of support and placement you need to even acceptably pull off this song requires top notch support and relaxation, its insane. Singing this took me years and even then the amount of sensitivity and dynamic control in Bobbys singing make him unsurpassable by anyone who can even hit the notes correctly. Just astounding talent. Thousands of covers and he still reigns supreme

Widely considered the finest live performance of all time. Sung without autotune or manipulation, to his mom in the audience. A Masterpiece.

Bobby absolutely owns this song, no one else even comes close.

I think it’s amazing how he barely moves his body, he seems completely relaxed. It’s all about that incredible voice.

Perhaps the best live version of a song in tv history
