I work for a rescue that helps Korean dogs get adopted in the US, and we require adopters to sign up for training because of where our dogs come from (very traumatic, difficult situations). Not surprised that Poppy has some Jindo, lol. Most Korean dogs have some! People need to understand that if you are going to adopt a dog and expect the dog to be a confident (ie, not have issues like separation anxiety), well adjusted and well behaving dog, that you should look at things from their point of view. Best way to help them is to do what Wah and Weylie did by getting a trainer. Our #1 rule is to let the dog decompress by not hovering over them, minimum touching/eye contact for the first 3 days. Just let them adjust and explore their new environment on their own for those 3 days. Don't think there is something wrong if they aren't all affectionate right away, or seem like they are depressed. It's just like how people act in a new environment. We need time to adjust. Like Wah said, take it SLOW!

cheers to adopting a rescue! my dog was rescued from a hoarding situation. he is very shy and skittish but has blossomed so much over the years. my vet said his reactivity will never go away completely but it can be managed with patience, training, and structure to his schedule. it was difficult in the beginning but I wouldn’t trade him for the world!!!

Seriously though, El Tepeyac's food is good and they come in huge portions. My co-workers and I used to go there for lunch since our office is located in East LA. And that guy is right, Boyle Heights used to be a Jewish area back in the day.
