There's a trick on these cars. Normally they shift slow and smooth. Push that button on the side of the shift handle that says "OD OFF". That same button is called "MAN SHIFT" on some other Fords. It's really both.
If you put it in that mode and then move the handle yourself, it will shift faster. It will chirp the tires going into 2nd. I don't know if it's harder on the transmission doing this. Might be.

You can also use it for 2nd gear start. And of course it locks out overdrive, but that's not all it does.

Normally for mine if u keep it between 1000 and 2000 rpm’s it shoots up quick
