Some tips on getting the window in...
It look to me like the string you are using is too thick. Try finding something that is as thin as possible, but strong enough. I usually take some sort of copper insulated wire.
Put it all the way around in the seal and cross the wires on the bottom part (like you are doing already).
Then put the window in, ends of the string inside and the window seal resting on the frame with the seal as much in place already as possible. Then apply some (not much needed) force on the window from the outside while guiding the string in. When you do this, you keep one end of the string fixed and the other wiggeling inward while taking parts of the inner seal inwards bit by bit as you go along. Work both way one by one until you reach the bottom corners equally, then past them and work your way up evenly.
Applying the pressure to the window from the outside is mainly to prevent it from popping out om the first part. Once you have reached the first corners it holds itself in.
