On X is a good tool for when you get turned around. use a compass to point north then turn phone so north lines up. I have turned 180 deg. and found my way out. also it helps you find a down deer by adding way point on tracking.

I'm very thankful for your computer scouting tutorials over the years, back to when you showed how to overlay a pdf map into a KML for a Garmin, which truly was a DIY innovation. Even now with resources like OnX available, I appreciate your work on this channel.

Garrett, man you've really matured in hunting, filming and editing. Outstanding video. How about more of these, especially since you're traveling to various states. Excellent job bud.

That was very informative! Thanks for sharing your method. I didn’t realize Onx could do all that.

Hey awesome video per usual 👍. I was wondering where you purchased and which brand pole you are using at 6:58?

I'm currently working an area & I will be done in a week. These r close range spots on slivers surrounded by river backwater. All prepping is 4 saddle hunting & is way back. Need 2 finish this ASAP since turkey scouting starts soon. Quite a bit like island hopping in marshes but much darker. Those r a lot of good tips. I am going in from 1 access & if I choose 2 take a deer it most likely will leave via a kayak 2 load @ another destination. Sometimes u need all the info 2 go the extra mile 2 see things most won't see or no exists. Great content as usual.

Your comment of at least bring hip boots is so true. I’ve wasted countless scouting trips of trying to follow the small trails from woods out to the islands. I also have my own color management system. It’s so much easier to look back at a glance and see what you have found. Great vid, thanks for sharing.

Thanks Garrett very informative! In indiana we have medium woods surrounded by ag. That scenario feels like there is really no place off limits to anyone and you will find hunter sign right off the road and trail all the way to the furthest points (and everywhere between). Feels like shortly after season starts a bunch of deer get pushed out to ag field tree lines which for public land hunters usually off limits, given the world we live in these days gaining permission is all the more difficult. Would love to hear your thoughts and any changes in process for that type of scenario. Love your stuff and enjoyed the public land challenge contribution a couple years ago and look forward to learning more from you and the other gents from that group. Thanks for all you do!

This video was great for me. Very helpful in seeing things I may be missing while scouting and also made me realize how I do not use onX to the full potential.

After watching this video. I checked out my onX maps. And after I scouted previously and marked trails and saw signs. Everything the deer do in my area follow the highest point mostly on the hybrid layer. The 1100 marked lines. Cool and very interesting.

Very good information. I'm hunting VA. and we have some marshes but your use of onX will be helpful with the diverse public lands I hunt throughout the state. Thanks.

Dang, looked on the DNR website and that fish lake area has more access & parking areas than an international airport and I suspect just as many people seeing it's around an hours drive from the twin cities.

Definitely would love to see how you do this with big woods scenarios.

Definitely wood love to see this for hardwood ag field set ups with rivers and creeks running through them as well as hardwood, ag field, ridge set ups. I am hunting Fort Riley, KS area and those are the two main features I see.
