Jubilant scenes in Imane Khelif’s hometown after she wins gold at the Paris Olympics

Algerian boxer Imane Khelif's historic victory and gold medal at the Paris Olympics sparked jubilant celebrations in her hometown of Tiaret on Saturday.

Khelif became the first Algerian woman to win an Olympic boxing title, and her triumph came after she endured intense online bullying seeped in racism, misogyny and transphobia - led by the likes of Elon Musk, Donald Trump, and JK Rowling - over her gender and femininity.
