I have a single hose In a 1 bedroom apartment. It’s very effective! I run it in the bedroom during the day as it’s not that quiet! At night I turn it off and use a regular fan. I also run a fan in the living room. For even greater effort I use the bedroom fan that directs the cool air out the door towards the living room.

Single hose units pull a vacuum on the space, pulling in warm outside air from door sills and cracks and gaps. That's why the other rooms are stuffy. Dual hose is the only way.

I believe you're not supposed to tilt these sideways or upside down. Next time, just cut the box open, so the unit is always upright. I bought one one time, and that was what the delivery guy said to me, to keep it upright. Glad these things exist. I probably ought to just get another one but I'm looking at a window unit since the portables emit heat into the room itself which it has to manage, and they take up a bit of an area footprint, where as the window unit (since I can install one, I hope!), takes up zero floor space, and keeps most of the AC noise outside since I'm looking at these U shape variable speed inverter AC's.

I purchased two of these for my townhouse - a dual hose for the main floor and single hose upstairs. The single hose one "worked" but when compared to the dual hose one the difference was night and day. The dual hose one is far superior.

I have a single hose Shinco for my bedroom as it doesn't get cool enough in my back bedroom. Instead of putting the hose out a window, I put it in the floor so it goes out under the house. The drain plug also goes out under my house. I love mine and wouldn't want to live without it.

Based on my experience as an hvac. A lot of potential variables for not cooling. A dirty dusty room will make your condenser coils not perform adequately to dissipate heat and have efficient cooling. Another factor is fan strength and most portable unit fans strength is almost junk. Either get an extra fan to blow more air around to speed up the cooling of the entire room.

I am looking for something that I don’t need to mess up with the window. Is that possible? The idea it is to get the bed area cooler for sleeping

What is the room temperature after one and a half hour? You missed the vital information here

my 3.5kw does my room 6m / 5m < the fans help circulate air > in less then 3 mins, however I'm gonna get a 2.6kw next time as the cost of electrical in Australia is murder. If it doesn't have self evaporating you need to empty it a lot, but having a self evaporating unit also makes the it louder.

I turned my single hose Sharp 12, 00btu into a twin hose without any hose?? What I did was to push the AC into one of the sliding doors and close the one door onto it. Fill the void that's left as the AC unit is much shorter than the sliding doors, So I filled the void with some good foam board. about 1 inch thick and cut to size, a giant rectangle. So both the hot air is exhausted directly outside no hose! and the incoming outside air is also drawn from outside as the vents are on the side and behind the unit that stick out the back of the sliding doors. The interior air that's recirculated is drawn from inside the room as it's on the top back side that does not stack out the house. Just a few inches between air inlet filter and the foam board but enough room to draw ONLY the inside air. Now I have a portable AC that works great and no need to have install of some fancy spilt unit.. Just make sure one has a sliding door NOT window as the unit is too heavy to lift up to window and could topple over! Sliding doors to the rescue💖

missed opportunity to have a segment where you are not talking over the AC noise, as the viewer can hear the noise it makes more clearly. You talked over most of it. Still a great video. I'm not buying this model as i live in eu, but its interesting to hear the approx noise an AC makes.

you want to keep it as close to window as possible possibly even higher up on some stand, in order for a hose to be as short as possible.. Because the hose can get really hot and you don't want a bigger surface of hot hose heating up the space while you're trying to cool it..

I would like to see how the window insert works. It looked like there was only a hose when you were unboxing. Do I need to create a special insert or buy one?

I own one that is similar. Danby is the brand, I bought it about 13 years ago and it is still going strong to this day. It has a "better" remote than yours, but truth be told...gimmic. Set and forget, the remote is mostly an ornament that can get lost in the cushions just as easy as the TV remote does. 600 square foot space, the unit is technically underpowered. But that never became an issue, I am comfortable in the den space that has no ventilation, with a PC that pumps out a lot of heat when I game. The AC unit sits in the dining/balcony door space.

Due to humidity, draining it is a must. I live on the ground floor, so a short tube to slip through the screen door corner and I can direct it to drain on the grass. This may not be a good solution for others in upper floors, but it is a must. I tried using a bucket, but found that humidity was hit and miss from day to day. Some days, no moisture at all. Others, the thing is full before I get out of bed 6 hours after last emptying it, walking into a wet spot on the floor is not pleasant in the morning.

Suffice to say, I cannot live without it. If the place was larger, I would likely need a larger one or a second one. They are not quiet. But you do get accustomed to their noise and eventually tune it out.
