Two Steps From Hell - Star Sky (Piano Version)
Piano Version by Patrik Pietschmann

After a somewhat longer break than usual, I'm happy to finally be able to publish a new video! As I wrote under my last video, there are several reasons at the moment why I don't upload as regularly as before. One main reason is that I recently moved. So this video was made in the midst of a lot of moving boxes and it took a while for my equipment to stand as it did before. Musically, this piano arrangement was also more of a challenge for me, which means that even if I hadn't moved, it would have taken longer for sure. Some of you had been asking me for "Star Sky" by "Two Steps From Hell" for a while and I thought now would be a good time to do it. I hope you like it!

Any suggestions for future arrangements? Please leave them in the comments.

Coming home from school and see that Patrik has released a new masterpiece, is one of the best feelings you can ever feel.

Although you haven't done many TSFH-videos yet, I think your arrangements of Thomas Bergersen's and Nick Phoenix's pieces are a very important part of your channel. Every single TSFH-arrangement of yours is so unique and I feel like, especially with your TSFH-videos, you really show what you're capable of.

Now to Star Sky: I think it's one of those pieces that everyone has heard somewhere before but perhaps cannot assign directly (that's how it is with many of these TSFH-melodies). Star Sky has an unbelievably epic and melodic, very powerful character, which, in spite of it's dynamicness, isn't too intrusive, but rather embracing and peaceful, which could perhaps describe a starry sky very well. But the piece isn’t just about the sky, it tells the story of two loving souls who get separated from each other since one is going to die. The Sky's symbolizing their reunion when both are dead.

You brought the piece to the piano wonderfully, which was certainly not easy due to all the increases, scale-changes and it's dynamicness. Well, well done!

Do you know what's the great thing about your channel? It is the fact that one can always rely on you and your skills, no matter what piece you're arranging! You never disappoint, Patrik!

By the way, have you thought about using YouTube's "premiere"-function? I think since you're uploading (only) once a month, that'd be a cool event and a more exciting way of presenting your new piece to the community! What do you think?

Have a great Day! 😃

Kind regards,

Lasse

To see that someone can play a piece and make all the notes so evenly, for almost 6 minutes, and not get tired is truly amazing. Love your work, Patrik!!!

Lyrics:

Here we are
Riding the sky
Painting the night with sun
You and I, Mirrors of light
Twin flames of fire
Lit in another time and place
I knew your name
I knew your face
Your love and grace
Past and present now embrace
Worlds collide in inner space
Unstoppable, the song we play
Burn the page for me
I cannot erase the time of sleep
I cannot be loved so set me free
I cannot deliver your love
Or caress your soul so
Turn that page for me
I cannot embrace the touch that you give
I cannot find solice in your words
I cannot deliver you your love
Or caress your soul
Age to age
I feel the call
Memory of future dreams
You and I, riding the sky
Keeping the fire bright
From another time and place
I know your name
I know your face
Your touch and grace
All of time can not erase
What our hearts remember stays
Forever on a song we play
Burn the page for me
I cannot erase the time of sleep
I cannot be loved so set me free
I cannot deliver your love
Or caress your soul so
Turn that page for me
I cannot embrace the touch that you give
I cannot find solice in your words
I cannot deliver you your love
Or caress your soulHere we are

I have been playing Piano for 7-8 years now, and I am nowhere near as talented; admittedly, I am fine with that.

I had tried learning this song before but stopped briefly to learn Heart of Courage, my favorite piece. Like everyone else says, you are a fantastic pianist! I have been a subscriber since you were below one million; forget the exact number. That's beside the point. You have an incredible gift! Watching your channel grow while sharing your amazing talent has been amazing! Thank you for all the amazing piano music you have shown us. Don't let anyone stop you from continuing these works of art!

Yes Patrik! The way you perfectly hit every key not too hard nor too soft when moving so eligantly and quickly along the piano keys baffels me. A true master of the instrument. Best arrangement on YouTube too, you made my day good sir <3

The use of broken chords here is absolutely beautiful. Another stunning arrangement.

As soon as I heard this piece I knew I had to attempt learning it, and let me tell you, it is difficult. I've been playing off and on for 14 years as a hobby and just finished playing at 80 bpm with some flaws and stops. Those 6 note per beat arpeggios will be the death of me, while this mad lad plays at 125 bpm with flawless grace. All the respect Patrik, big fan of your work

HOLY FRICKEN CRAP!!! IVE WANTED YOU TO PLAY THIS PIECE FOR SO LONG!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! AHHhHhHh!!! Anyways…. calm down…. I really love your arrangement of this. This is probably on my top 5 arrangements now, next to Time, Lost but Won, and Interstellar. Good job dude. I love how you kept the beginning so light and “starry” then you transitioned into a louder dynamic and deeper sounds in the piano. It’s amazing how you can keep the melody in the 16th note runs and the arpeggiations. 4:25 is a really cool part. It kinda reminds me of your mandalorian arrangement when you let off of the sustain pedal. 5:15 is my favorite part with the harmonizing quarter note chords on the left hand. good!!! Thank you so much

I never manage to write a comment in the hours after the release, and thus I know that this will likely never be seen, but this is something that I feel I have to say. Patrik, discovering your channel was enlightening. It encouraged me to pick up piano again, and although I don't take lessons, I still practise. However, it's not the only thing your dedication to your channel has pushed me to do. I'm writing my own music, soon to release it on my own channel (not this one, another one, and I won't link it, as this comment is about my appreciation, not my ambition).

So I say thank you, Patrik. Thank you for the encouragement that you have willingly, yet unknowingly provided and thank you for the stunningly beautiful music.

It's very rare when a melody is really nice from the first notes. Thank you.
