CAMP spawn points have been shrouded in mystery since Bethesda removed welcome mats from the game back at the dawn of time. Today I'm here to show you EXACTLY how to choose where you and your visitors spawn in your CAMP!

First of all I just want to say thank you so much for making this video and doing the research behind it. It is extremely helpful! There are a couple of clarifications i would like to make based on my experimentation:

The distance of the spawn points to the CAMP module is based not on a fixed number of foundation blocks but on the camp's build radius. For public and private worlds, this build radius is equal to the length of six foundation blocks laid end to end (making your numbers correct) but on a custom world, it may be increased, and this has the effect of scaling the distance of _all_ spawn points from the CAMP module by the same factor. For the owner's "far" spawn point, this will be 1 build radius North and 1 build radius East, or Northeast by √2 times the build radius. For the owner's "near" spawn point, and for a visitor's spawn point, it is simply the build radius, but in a pseudorandomly chosen direction between North and Northeast.

If the CAMP module is never moved from its original placement point, visitors will always spawn on the camp's build perimeter, which is ideal for avoiding being stuck inside not-yet-rendered camp objects. The intent was probably to provide a useful default which could then be altered by fast travel mats, but when these were removed from the game it was decided to use the current location of the CAMP module (but, for some reason, not also its current rotation), leading to players spawning possibly far outside the CAMP boundary _and_ facing the wrong way.

I would seriously appreciate it if Bethesda would just let us place down our welcome mat as a spawn point just like we do at our workshops it's been a pet peeve of mine since playing the game that I can select that in a workshop but not in my camp it's infuriating

You should have heard the noise I made when you mentioned that the CAMP owner has a different spawn point than visitors. My mind was blown. That honestly explains so much about my issues fixing my CAMP fast travel.
I just want people to be able to spawn in looking at my build from the right direction, darn it.

More than one upvote. I come back to this almost every time I build a new camp. I guess I'll remember someday.

This is so handy! I didn't know you had any control over the spawn in. As a big Fallout 4 builder I was surprised to see the spawn mat missing in this game. Many thanks!

so i just scrapped my camp to test out placing it as new and rotating the module doesnt work it always spawns me north east from the module no matter where its placed and how its rotated idk maybe its bugged or bethesda just doesnt want players to have some small amount of freedom

This helps a ton! My recent build was plagued by unsuspecting visitors getting stuck in my kitchen foundation...lol! Problem solved! Thanks so much!

I would never had though of that, now everything makes sense, no more spawning inside my stash box 👍👍

Awesome timing! I filmed a similar video earlier this week but haven't edited it yet. You found some tricks I didn't realize when I was doing some testing. I realized that I would always spawn in from the NE no matter what, but I didn't know that the initial camp module placement determined where you faced. Great video :)

So I watched another video which cleared things up for me. You always spawn due North of the placement of you camp in or out of workshop. That's why as an example this video worked because that was already your preferred location to spawn. The trick to change the way you face does work though.

In my and potential visitors to my camp name I thank you for saving people from spawning in air just over a massive cliff.

Never thought about rotating the module. I knew i always spawned diagonally away from the thing and presumably always the same direction. Then i'd drag the module over to where i was spawning hoping that i'd warp in the opposite direction. Nope... i was even further out still in the same direction. One of my camps spawns you right at the precipice of a cliff... so you get a really nice view heh. More camp tweaking ahead!

Thank you for this video! I like to build under the bridges near Harpers Ferry, and couldn't figure out why sometimes I would spawn in the water outside my camp and others I would spawn on top of the adjacent bridge. XD

THANK YOU!!!! =) I have searched for how to do this and never came up with a definitive answer. I am now very glad I subscribed to your channel after that great tower build you did. That and this was worth it!

Man, I wish there were better options for this.

I didn’t know this! But I did figure out a long time ago that if you want people to spawn at the main entrance of your South facing camp…too bad. Ain’t happening.

I really need to keep this in mind the next time I build one of your lovely CAMPS. I also find it amazing you know exactly what is in my vendor. 😂
