Apple has agreed to pay $95 million to settle a lawsuit that accused the company of turning its virtual assistant Siri into a snoop that eavesdropped on the users of iPhones and other trendy devices in a betrayal of its long-standing commitment to personal privacy.

Former FBI agent and cyber security expert Scott Augenbaum sits down with FOX 17 News to talk about the details regarding devices listening in on their users.

We need to change the laws. Any company that profits off of customer data like this owes each customer a royalty/dividend/shares of that company.

Apple got paid $950 million from advertisers. So they still made money out of this.

Unintentionally recording and then unintentionally sharing it with advertisers? Then Siri is smarter than we thought hehe.

But on a serious note $95 mil is peanuts for a trillion dollar corp.

$95million seems like a slap on the wrist for Apple. A company worth almost $4 *Trillion* .

Just assume if you're on the internet and using a smartphone you don't have privacy.

What ever happened to Apple being the privacy smart phone?

They’ve been asked about this for years and denied it. Now they admit it was going on but it was “unintentional”. I read through the terms and conditions about Siri and it specifically says that it does not collect or sell the info. So this is clearly a violation.

Likely, unintentionally getting paid billions from selling the unintentional recordings.

I’ve had multiple iPhones in the last 10 years, do I get $20 per iPhone? How do I claim?

I had a very specific conversation with someone during the day…HOURS later I accidentally trigger Siri and I watch the words from the conversation pop up like I’m speaking to Siri…very strange moment. At the time of accidentally triggering Siri there was absolutely no noise at all.
