Jonathan, oh my gosh! You just described a former co-worker of mine. We met over the phone at work when he needed to ask me a question about an audit her was performing. This guy was smart, and such a great conversationalist. Our values were in sync, etc. He wanted to meet me in person. So in short, I had to fly to Charlotte, NC for training and that was the perfect opportunity for us to meet up in person. Well, fast forward, he was going to pick me up from the airport. That is when everything fell flat. He sent me a very vague text message of what he was wearing so I would recognize him. So when I went down to the baggage claim to meet him, I was unable to spot him. BUT I kept walking past a guy who was much heavier than the person in his online photo....so basically I kept walking past him. Ultimately I wound up walking out to catch a cab instead. All of the sudden he rushed out the door to catch me, and I was so were no words to describe the shock I was in. Yes, it was a lesson for me to not fall for this. And the icing on the cake...(drum roll....) he was already engaged to another woman, and never disclosed that. I felt very betrayed, and much like a fool. I was very upset because he did this in a work environment, and betrayed me.

My ex and I live two hours apart we spent every weekend together and anytime that he had off from work as well he called three times a day but if I upset him in any way he would block me for weeks never been one to act like that and believe communicating is the best way to deal with things in the end I moved on I didn’t like his emotional immaturity nor his expectations of a relationship being sunshine and rainbows all the time when that’s not what they are they are

Thank you Mr. Aslay. I like listening to you as your non-politically correct message is exactly what people need to hear regardless of how it may be perceived. I've been nodding alongside while watching your videos. Despite I've moved on and am now in a wonderful local relationship for some years, I'm still very passionate about the topic of long distance relationships. This is because it was a very significant chapter of my life of as the feeling of love was very new to me. I was burned badly by emotional abuse my LDR partner caused me, which forced me stand up for myself, and the pain that followed helped me improve in all aspects of my life (like a phoenix rising from the ashes).

In this video you talk about players in LDRs, for me you've actually hit a nail on something else. It is the PRETENDING which is easily done thanks to the distance. On another video, I've mentioned that it is easy to fake a persona. This is also very much the case with faking love. In hindsight, my LD ex was with me because the guys she truly was interested in never gave her the time of day. Because if they did, she would never had been with me at best, and I'm 100% sure she would have ditched me for them, at worst. I also know this because she tried to make a move on one of her crushes she used to talk about a lot and were clearly more interested in focusing on than me. Only for her to get rejected it seems.

And for me, having had a girl 'interested' in me was a very new and exciting experience that I was eager to try out. I never had girls interested in me so I just went with it. So it was scarcity that caused me to enter a relationship that was toxic to my life. I did not know the dangers of LDRs and having underestimated the red flag of her having a racist mom caused a dent in my emotional health.
Now that I consider myself a "veteran" of long distance relationships, I not only understand them so much more, but also help spread the word why people should stay away from LDRs.


Most importantly, I'm free from LDRs and all the toxicity I dealt with while also having learned how to find a healthy partner as I did.
