SUPER EASY automatic water change system for your fish tank

In this video I show you a fully automatic water change system that is so easy and inexpensive that anybody can hook this up. Automatic water change systems are not just for the advanced hobbyist or those with a large fish room.

I should note this system is not a true water change system, meaning we are not getting a 1:1 replacement of new vs old water. This system is more of a water dilution system, similar to continuous drip system. Clean fresh water is being added to the tank, while the excess water exits the tank via an overflow system. I currently have 15 gallons of freshwater added to each tank, every day. That’s 105 gallons per week. Considering a 1:1 dilution, that’s equivalent to a 70% weekly water change. True statement that more water is being consumed with this system, but equally true is that no buckets or hoses are needed. 😉👍

The first auto water change video I’ve seen that clearly explains the why and how. Plus showing a realistic water change system. Even the bigger fish channels don’t do this. Great job and thank you.

Great addition to any fish hobbyists water change routine (no more lugging buckets of water 😂) and not forgetting the time saved, leaving you to get on with your day. 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

You know, sometimes all you need is a horse and buggy. Hell, sometimes your own two feet work fine! Great video, thanks a lot for the info.

🤯🤯🤯 mind blowing build of a "no water change ever", my friend and I was thinking of a way and now that I found it I've shared the video with him, massive great video boss..

I need to stop riding a horse and buggy. Those plugs are freaking awesome. Well explained, great video Tom!

I like the simplicity of this system... and how it's worth it even if you only have a couple of tanks hooked up to it.

I like the smart plug idea, I’ve been pondering using one, but this confirmed it!

thank you for the video. my question is: how / when do you add anti chlorine or other water treatment before add the new water in this kind of system?

Really debated whether or not to post this video. However, the dual 75’s have been up and running for a couple of weeks now and the automatic water change system has been working GREAT! This system, as currently configured, is pumping clean fresh water into each of the 75 gal tanks at the rate of 10 gal/hr. Each tank receives 15 gal of fresh clean water each day.

I've been thinking how to make water changes easier, even though I can't do auto(limited space and on a lease) but now I'm going to use my sump pump and upgrade to a trashcan like that. Cheers.

Nice video! I set up a drip system to change out 12 gallons a day in 3 different tanks, I didnt feel confident drilling, so i made a drip overflow to go with it. I really like the control you have in your fishroom for lights and water changes! Ill be looking into that for sure!

Fyi, im also from MN!
