"A European", I've always thought it's "an European", I used to use "an" automatically on any words that has an initial letter of either A, E, I, O, or U, that's what I learned many years ago from my English class, didn't know it also has something to do with vowel sound, anyway good to know!

Thanks heaps for sharing this vid! I'm always confused about using articles whenever I speak in English. Just wondering about two things whilst watching this video; 1) in 7:22 part, ['THE + Countable nouns'] Is this a typo? 2) 7:51 in this part, can I use 'a rug' instead of 'the rug'? What if I chat with somebody who has never seen my rug before, I would use 'I spilt wine on a rug' rather than 'the rug'. Is this correct?

why do people use "the" saying "where is the toilet?" though they don't know about "the toilet".
