What rabbit hole have I fallen into ?
Firstly your animations, graphics are great, you logic, with regards to trans-humanism and the understanding of the human mindset is correct.

However I hope that a Zardoz ( film) type solution is found, but this time Sean Connery doesn't mess it up.

I first heard of the idea of "local digital manufacturing" back in the '80s in Eric Drexlers' book Engines of Creation. He was following up on Richard Feynmans' ideas about "Nano-Technology". I suspect you have been exposed to both of these works as well as many others. I'm happy to see you're continuing to promote those ideas. I'm afraid I wont live to see these predictions come about, but what an interesting world it will be if they do.

Technology and science is awesome, but I worry about not being capable of being part of it(the future). Upgrading human beings(myself)... already planning.

I've thought for a while that we are moving toward a leisure bases economy as machines take more and more jobs. We humans will become obsolete in the workforce. Perhaps those of us that do choose to have jobs will be entertainers and artisans, but certainly not office workers or any industrial type jobs.

Personally I think what we'll see is a future in virtually reality. In a virtual world you can basically defy the laws of physics and create any type of technology imaginable. Our place of work will be in a virtual world, our computer desktop will be on a screen within a virtual room. Real world technology will focus on logistics, moving things about the planet based on our interaction within the virtual world.

This is a really interesting video and I thank you for it :) If I may just quickly raise my opinion: I cannot believe that I; as a 23 Year old man; am watching the future unfolding before my very eyes. I remember when the PS1 came out when I was a kid. I Mean shit it's been that long... and yet I am only 23. Merely a child in the eyes of the world. But I have seen in my short life that We; as a collective Human-Species; are treading a dangerous path...Truly a dangerous path. For what I see when I look around me at the people of this planet I see Fear. I See stress and pain and suffering and delusion of not only their physical bodies-some obese and some skeletal- I see how every Nation is afflicted by the greatest sickness Man has ever seen: Selfless dedication to the Beast that constitutes "Life" in this New Age we inhabit. The relentless pursuit of material goods to give all the thing addicts all the things they feel they need. This disgusting Global-Culture that has arisen that is aimed at controlling the masses. And it works very very well I must say. Human beings; I personally feel are barely human anymore. Or rather; we seem to be slowly losing our humanity as times progress. Most People living in the cities and Metropolises of the world; the necropolis that is the driving force behind the destruction of our species; have mostly lost contact with reality and nature and themselves as they cry out to be regulated or controlled by a higher power. Be it they people they elect to govern them or the bosses they work for. Human beings have not lost their freedom; they've given it away to other people telling them: "Please; take care of me and I will work within your system." And this system is leading down the path of the death of this species as we know it today. I fear what the world will look like in 30 years from now... actually I fear what the world will look like in 2017... Crimson moon's may rise for countless nights... Humans are so fucking lazy! Always wanting technology to help them achieve the "impossible". I personally do not like living in modern-day Earth very much. I'm a dreamer of a species upon planet Earth that may rightfully call themselves Intelligent. A rational; sovereign species that sees this Beautiful little blue dot for what it is. A Library of living information. A gem amongst the stars. I Dream of a 4th-Dimensional Human-Being that is not driven or sustained by artificial implants. A Human that is truly Human- unlike the Hollows walking around today. I'm talking about average men and woman being brave enough to explore the treasures in the dark places we are told are told does not exists. Telepathy, Telekinesis, Biokinesis, Translocation, Remote-Viewing and all-round awakening to the fact that We are part of a living Universe. People spend their whole lives searching for God and yet it is and has been in front of their very eyes since the day they were born. And it will be there when they die and it has been there before. And in finding Unity with Source after consciously confronting and dissolving the ego as to realize that you are a Free and Natural human being and you can choose to be that if you'd like. You have no obligation to be the same person you were a second ago. Change is the name of the game in the Universe. Change is inevitable. I only fear that I;as a spiritual wanderer might not be able to return to Planet Earth after this lifetime is over. An empty library with blind librarians. Good luck in the coming years :)

Chris, very exciting video! From following your past work, I can see how all these things are perfectly possible. One area you did not talk about was deep space exploration, I have wondered if there is a future there or not. On a smaller scale will we put a woman or a man on Mars in our lifetime? Your discussion about mining on asteroids makes me wonder why we don't just hook to that ride and let the laws of nature take us forward? Hitching a ride on an asteroid and then leaving it when we get close to our destination. How is that for dreaming? Is this a possibility? If nothing else it could make a great movie! You can see, you have me thinking of all kinds of things, look forward to getting your book!

I do believe we will have advancements (and adoption) of personal AI assistants, medical advances and genetic modifications on some scale, but on finding resources on other planets... I don't see it. What could be worth sending missions, establishing colonies, etc. to mine?
Making the moon a giant solar energy generator would be great, but for not for Earth, for helping astronauts.
