Im a plumbing contractor here in SoCal. I make enough money to buy out any vehicle I need in cash. The problem is Im just too stubborn to pay stupid prices like $80k for an F250 super duty. I’m still driving my 2002 f250 with 7.3 motor that has 350, 000 miles. All my friends tell me I’m crazy for not buying a nice new luxury truck but my response is alway the same…I’ll just continue to invest my money into my retirement

When the most influential country in the world destroys their economy by overspending, this is what you get. It doesn't matter where you live, more money means you pay more, even if that paper is not backed by anything.

I have a feeling these interest rates are about to eat theses high price trucks sales alive. Remember it’s not just the prices that have increases but the interest rates are way higher than they were last year.

The f150 lightning isn't worth 40k let alone 55k what a joke.

Vehicle prices are freakin out of control. Problem is people are still buying them so manufacturers will still raise the prices. Amazing how many people are paying $90 to over $100k for their vehicles. Seems to be coming the new ‘norm’.

Base truck prices jumped $10k this year and it kinda went under a lot of people’s radar. 2wd half tons were stuck under 30k for the past 5-10 years and they suddenly jumped to $40k this year. A lot of ‘engineering’ is being done for electrification, and I imagine that a lot of the ‘profit’ is really going into ev manufacturing

My High Country got rear ended by a Tundra doing 45 and totaled it. Shocked at how much sticker inflation for both the new and Limited version. I picked up a 2022 Duramax High Country with a sticker of $73k. My totaled 2019 cost me $$21, 560 less.

There was a time where 50k would get you a fully loaded vehicle. I want a Ford Tremor but, $70k+ is beyond what I would pay for any vehicle. That’s luxury brand prices.

I did a little reading on where some of the rare minerals are harvested from to make the batteries and it was quite alarming. In the Congo, they use child labor to harvest cobalt that is backed by China. And China controls 60% of the world's lithium resources. All are tied with slave labor. I wouldn't want to invest my money into that type of business.

Ford didn't misjudge the market. They knew a $40, 000 Lightning would never be profitable, and they knew anyone who'd pay $60, 000 for a BASE MODEL electric truck, one that takes 8 hours to charge at home and only has 70 or 80 miles of towing range, wouldn't be your typical, work-minded truck buyer. EVs are simply another way to scheme investors and create market presence. Ford never had intention of making an electric F150 their mainstay. It's not even possible to do, as the market cannot support it.

As for the general price of trucks, it simply comes down to government. Whether it be Covid shut downs which wreck the supply chains, regulations that disfavor internal combustion engines and drives up the cost of their development, protectionist policies like the chicken tax that stifles competition by keeping out "foreign" brands, or whether it be money pumping which drives inflation. You can blame government for all of it. We would be paying $1.50 for a gallon gas and $25, 000 for full-size trucks, if not for government's interference in the market.

“I did that.” Inflation robs average folks of their wages and prices them out of new vehicles and homes.

Lithium carbonate prices in China were at CNY 532, 500 per tonne at the end of December, nearly doubling in 2022 and extending the 475% surge from 2021 on soaring demand from manufacturers of electric vehicle batteries. Automobile manufactures are just starting to ramp up production of EVs and were already seeing lithium prices spiking. If they don't come up with a battery other than lithium EVs will never replace ICE vehicles.

Contractors and support staff who need trucks are getting forced to the used market for "new" trucks because the market has just gone crazy. Additionally, many of the electric vehicle buyers are concerned that the battery life in cold regions will take hit-after all it is a battery and batteries are very much adversely influenced by the cold.Furthermore, the electric bill!

The problem for years of increasing prices goes hand and hand with too many choices of trims and cabs. Nobody’s pay has matched the increase of inflation on everything in the last twenty years . I have been working on trucks as a up fitter for +38 years so I have seen all the trends some good and some bad. Bring back a simple design that is capable, reliable and affordable and not redesigned every 4 years.

We bought our first Tundra SR5 4x4 Crewmax with a bench seat in 2018 for $38K OTD 20% below sticker. We bought our second Tundra SR5 4x4 Crewmax with a bench seat in 2021 for $48K OTD at sticker price. Dealer made us promise not to sell it right away. We bought a Subaru Outback Premium Manual in 2022 for $25K OTD again at sticker. Used ones on the lot were $5000 more with 30, 000 miles. We bought new as quickly as we could when prices were below the market. Looks like the new car market has caught up. Now is the time to wait.

Saw the price increases and CANCELLED my order! Some of the reviews were poor using the charging network. I have deposits on the Ford, Chevy, Rivian and Cybertruck. Generally I love Ford, but I wanted one that we could put our camper on…it looks like that will most likely be a GM and the rivian or Cybertruck will be a daily drive. OTHER BIG ISSUE is the additional $1, 000.00 Ford (or the dealer) wants now for the reservation without telling me WHEN or if it’s NON-REFUNDABLE!!

I think the Titan is a great and underrated truck. I’d buy one if I wasn’t broke. I priced up a 2023 Ram 1500 Crew Cab Big Born 4x4 at $67k with a bunch of options. The Titan Platinum reserve with all the same features was $66k. The Ram didn’t have Leather, Premium sound, heated/cooled seats, adaptive cruise and several other options that the Titan had.
