My favorite thing about Korea so far: the spicy food and parks! Have you been to Korea yet? 🇰🇷

Originally, Korean food was not spicy at all. It was also the blandest food in the world. In the Joseon Dynasty, there were no red peppers at all. Red pepper was introduced at the end of the Joseon Dynasty, but it was not popular. Kimchi is also originally white. After the Korean War in the 1950s, chili peppers were added to food, making many foods spicy. However, there are still far more Korean dishes that are not spicy at all. There are no spicy foods such as chili peppers in traditional Korean traditional holiday ancestral rites.

If the Italian sandwich you ordered was spicy, that type of sandwich would be spicy in Italy too. Most western restaurants in Korea never make non-spicy Western food spicy .
And Koreans hate spices like herbs. Sesame leaves are an exception.
