One of the best statements I've heard about the Bible is that God is the main character, not us. The whole story is a picture of God's character and His heart. The beauty of Jeremiah 29:11 is not the literal promise He makes to Israel, but what it says about who God is.

I honestly believe this nitpicking is less helpful than people believe. We seem to have forgotten that

“…whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”
— Romans 15:4

And that

All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;
— 2 Timothy 3:16

At the end of the day

“….solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.
— Hebrews 5:14

While we are trying to address improper application of the word, it’s also completely wrong to suggest that “this verse is not for us”. That is not true for any verse of the Bible according to 2 Tim 3:16, which suggests that every scripture is for OUR learning, instruction and training.

If we read it in its context we understand that Yah is speaking to Israel that moment.
You don't have to apply it to your life but I'm gonna apply it to mine😊 since I've been grafted in and I'm a joint heir to the promise, I'm gonna receive and walk in all of His promises to Israel. I know His plan for me is good cause I tried my own and that didn't go to well, in Him I have a hope and I have a future. I searched I prayed and I found Him and He brought me back from a far away place and drew me to Himself😊
But thank you for teaching context it is extremely important.

God bless you sharing Brother Corey. My thoughts on this: I believe that all scripture is to given ultimately so we can have a true knowledge of God, our Father so we turn to Him. So while this may not be for us in a literal sense it is still for us because it encourages us to know how God is always faithful to His people of whom we are part. Of course we have to be careful with context when reading scripture, but I believe there's always a right spirit in which we can read all scripture and be edified even these ones written specifically for Israel because it is all God's word for us from Genesis to Revelation.

Jeremiah 29:11 is not for us, but for us born-again Christians Philippians 1:6, Ephesians 2:10, John 5:24, and Matthew 28:20 are scriptures that apply to us. This is our hope and our future in Christ. Amen

True. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭qKJV

Sighing….Corey, I’m convinced that all you do is over analyze everything for the sake of making content. I have need of God’s Grace daily, so this I say humbly…. Do you not know that we are one if the stars that Abraham saw that Day when God told him to count the stars?? His obedience was counted unto him for righteousness and the promise is to all that believes. If God has plans for one, do you not think he has plans for another? What did he tell
Cane after he slew his own brother?? “ If you do well, I will receive you…” He’s no respecter of persons, nor does he change! If We believe in his Son Jesus whom was raised from the dead and now sits beside the father…. HIS PROMISES ARE FOR ALL OF US that believes. These things were written to show us God’s heart for Us!

Let's start to preach and teach the things that are salvation issues. These topics are just topics of contention. Am I going to the Lake of Fire for saying Let's get back to the things pertaining to soul salvation. There is enough confusion in the world without casting doubt.

The verse can still be applied to us and it does because it’s Gods mindset for those that are his, so if you are born again and belong to him, then that applies to you

For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. Romans 15:4

Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. 1 Cor 10:11

While Jeremiah 29:11 is not directly speaking to us or written to us, we can see and understand God's heart towards His people. Certainly if God had a plan and purpose for His people that were in captivity, It's reasonable to assume that he has a plan for us as well. So again, while this veres is not directly addressed TO us, it still has a benefit FOR us.

I watch your vids a lot. Not everything I agree with but you speak a lot of truth, God bless! As far as what you’re saying in this vid, I agree that the scripture is not literally talking about us believers today but it shows what God thinks about “us” His people and what he wants for us in our lives, those called by His name.

Context context context. Thanks for pointing this out Corey, God is clear who and what He is speaking to, and discernment of His Word is absolutely necessary.

While this specific verse is technically not for us, it does echo other passages for the church under the new covenant. While we can’t apply it to physical earthly blessings like most people do, I think we can certainly apply it to spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12) and ultimately our eternal spiritual home (2 Peter 3:9) even if we suffer on this earth (1 Peter 3:14) God has a plan to give us a future and a hope in the form of eternal life through Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 4:16-18). 🙏🏾

Thanks for calling this out brother Corey, many popular false pastors and teachers use this very scripture out of context, and why leaders “Pastors” will be judged more harshly Amen
