Another trick you can also try is logging out every time you stop using social media. You dont necessarily need to set any time limits, but just the reminder of the login screen and the effort of typing in your password is often enough to not start scrolling at all.

I wish there was an app that would automatically log out selected apps after for example 15 minutes of not being opened.
